Waking With A Start
Fri Jan 30 2004

The sleepy silence of the morning was shattered by the smashing, crashing tinkling of glass.

The light fixture on the ceiling in my bedroom decided it wanted to relocate for unknown reasons. Since our air filter was on the floor directly below, its journey to the semi-soft carpeted floor was abruptly interrupted.

Needless to say this woke everyone in the house up.

We're not sure why the desire to relocate came upon the fixture. I had wondered if maybe we had a mild earthquake, but this was not the case. I guess after 50+ years of stagnancy the fixture wanted a change in its inanimate life.

We're not sure where we will find a replacement fixture for this. I don't think they even make them anymore. It should be an interesting search.

Meanwhile, Hubby and I are preparing to head to the mall to look for birthday presents for the twins. I foresee lots of gift certificates for various music stores in the near future. That and a "beer hat" for #1 how has been pestering us for one for a while. Of course, he will use it as a "soda pop hat", but he will be happy.

I don't care what they say ... some inanimate objects are sentient. And apparently your light fixture was not only sentient, it was suicidal.
