Did you ever notice?

That time slows down if you are sick or in pain? I somehow (no clue how) managed to seriously tweak my back on Friday, and the past few days have been a long month. Sitting in uncomfortable chairs in class tonight was torture to say the least. The good side of that is that I had NO trouble staying awake in class!

Speaking of class... tonight we spent the better part of the class finding derivatives of trig functions. I've got sine's, cosine's and tangents bumping around in my brain now keeping me from sleep. I'm thinking if they don't settle down soon, I may have to discuss this with my friend Jack Daniels and see if he can get them to give it a rest.

Yesterday was #3's 10th birthday. He has been quite full of himself since Saturday, making sure that everyone knows that he is now in double digits in the age category. We ended up taking he, a bunch of his friends and his brothers to Chuck-E-Cheese and let them loose. They all had a blast.

#1 gets his spacers put in tomorrow in preparation for his bands in the next week or two. He is dismayed that today was the last day he could tease #2 about him having braces. Just before going to bed, I heard #2 practing different things he can call #1 once he joins the forces of the tin-grinned boys in the house. Fortunately for our bank account, #3 won't be getting his on until next year or so. I'm hoping we can put him off until at least one of the twins are done with their braces so we don't have to pay for 3 sets all at once.

Hubby FINALLY got put on permanent orders. Now we don't have to sweat our income and housing issues every six months, we are good through at least November 2007. While this is a relief, we are now waiting to see in the next couple weeks all the new and unusual ways the government can manage to mess up our pay, medical insurance and dental insurance. Fortunately I finally got my GI bill back pay, which was just a bit less than one of Hubby's paychecks. If his pay is messed up for the first of December, we should be good for at least then.

I found out tonight that the class I need to take next term is not offered at any of the campuses near me. I will get to drive up to the main campus (not too far away fortunately) and take it there. The good part of this is that it is offered there at 10 in the morning, so I don't need to worry about night classes for at least that term. The possible down side to this is that the campus runs on a different schedule than the local campuses. Locally my quarters are 8 weeks long, on campus they are 12 weeks long. With the way the schedule is now, if I can get the sign off from my instructor, my first week of the third calculus class will be the same week I take finals for the second class. If I do this, I forsee LOTS and LOTS of caffeine and TUMS that week.

I am hoping to pick up my class load next term. My tentative plans to knock out either my first chemistry or my first physics was foiled when the classes I need are not being offered at any of the campuses. I guess I'll knock out the only other class I need that is being offered, "Everything You Never Wanted To Know About Computers And Then Some". OK, ok, it's not really called that. It's real title is Introduction to Computer Information Systems. The only reason I'm taking it instead of trying to test out of it is that in the class they play around with several OS's that I've never played with. I'd like exposure to them before I get to another class and belatedly discover that it's working with something I know nothing about. That and it should be a class I can easily get a good grade from, helping to bump up my GPA from the damage I did to it way back when I thought it was more important to party than study.

It took me two and a half years to even partially undo the damage from my original undergraduate days. You're moving far more quickly than I ever did!
