Wake up!
Tue Nov 04 2003

It's 7:10am, and somehow I've managed to get all the kids out of bed, mostly dressed and at the table eating breakfast. And there were no fights getting anyone out of bed this morning! I'm going to accept it and not question it.

I've got a ton of homework and laundry to do today. I strongly suspect I'll be chained to my kitchen while I whittle away at both. With as tired as I am, I see lots and lots of coffee. I don't like coffee, but I see lots and lots of it in my immediate future!

Today is the last day of the quarter the twins can turn in their assignments. As of last Friday they were flunking everything as they had done, but not turned in most of their assignments. What is it with these kids? They don't like being grounded, but won't take steps to ensure they don't get grounded. I'm almost tempted to force them to stay after school to do all their homework, and turn it in before catching the Activities bus home. I'm not even sure that would work, as they somehow manage to not even turn in the work they do while in class.

#1 was supposed to get braces put on at the end of the month. According to our budget I should have been able to pay for this, I had carefully allocated enough to savings in prior months in preparation. I wasn't counting on my GI Bill stopping in August for some unknown reason, and having to pay for 2 quarters of school out of our savings though. So... $600 of the $700 I had stashed away for braces flew out the window for that. I've been in discussions with the VA as to why the money stopped, and how to get it back. I'm supposed to be paid through September 2007 as long as I'm in school during that time. I've jumped through all the hoops they have set before me, and I still have not gotten my $$. I've been told once the payments start up again, I will be reimbursed for the months they didn't pay me. While it will be nice then, it has sure injured my savings now. Ah, it's so much fun dealing with our governmental agencies regarding getting money from them. They are quick enough to demand it from us, but when time comes for the money to move in the opposite direction there are sure a LOT of kinks in the system!

At least I haven't had to dip into our saved spending money for our upcoming vacation over Christmas! Hopefully the pay issues for my school will be resolved prior to that! I have to sign up and pay for my next quarter at the beginning of December, and right now the funds just aren't there without my financial aid!

OK, enough bitching about money, time to go light fires under the boys to get them moving.

    Good Morning Allimom!
I was so thankful when my mom paid for my both of my son's braces.
My plans will be much like yours. Laundry (2 days worth) and studying for my test. I took yesterday off and played.
We had snow and very icey roads yesterday morning. Currently I have 32 on my backdeck and it is very gray outside.
My kids had yesterday off (grading day) and the new quarter starts today. I am keeping my fingers crossed my youngest at least passed 2/3 of his classes which would be a big improvement. I even caught him doing extra credit last week. I have come to the conclussion that if I take everything away he just gets madder and purposely does worse, which doesn't stop me of course. Maybe now that he is 14 he will figure it out a bit more.
Have a great day, stay warm!

You seem to find alot of uses for duct tape. (I still haven't duct taped the drains by the side of my house. I'm so lazy.)

    Hi,

Never made a comment on your diary before but been reading it for a while, just wanted to say that both me a cuty know what you mean about the money thing and the governments.

Good luck with it, we have so far lost the battle, but not the war yet.
