Homework. Specifically one problem. (Hey Beth, wanna lend a hand?)

I have gotten through all of one of my homework assignments except one. It deals with a fun little thing called Proving Identities

I'm stuck on the following problem:
sin(a) - csc(a) = -cos(a)cot(a)

Here is what I've done:
On the left side I get:
sin(a) - 1/sin(a) -->
* both by sin(a) to get sin²(a) - 1

On the right side I get:
-cos(a) * cos(a)/sin(a) = cos²(a)/sin(a)

Since sin²(a) - 1 DOES NOT equal cos²(a)/sin(a), and no matter what I do I consistently get the same thing, I'm going absolutely NUTS on this.

I'm relatively sure I've got the left side correct, but the right side is kicking my posterior. Any math guru's out there... HELP!!!!!
