A Carrot Named Harry Potter
Sun Jun 22 2003

#1 starts summer school tomorow. I bought the new Harry Potter book yesterday.

Can you see where this is going?

All three boys have been told that if they have good days, and if #1 does all his school work correctly, we will be reading a chapter a day. There are 38 chapters in the book, and summer school goes until July 25. Almost perfect!

#1 has also been told that if he does well in summer school, he will be given to book to devour on his own once we have confirmation of his success.

The boys are excited about the book. Excited enough I think to ensure good behavior for a while.

Hubby, however, thinks I'm horrible. Not because of using the book as a carrot, but because I stayed up last night to read the book. The whole book. Nothing but the book. It took me about 11 hours, but I got through the whole thing. Strangely today, every time Hubby sneezed it sounded like he was saying Obsessive/Compulsive. Weird.

Meanwhile... I have my midterm tomorrow night, so another gal from my class and I got together to study today. I'm a bit nervous about the test. Seeing that nothing from the quiz was from the book, and only from his lectures, I'm planning to use the quiz and an extra credit sheet he handed out to use for studying. I'm having nightmares that the mid-term will be based on the material in the book, even though we have not touched on it at all in class.

Time to go pop some Tums.

I got the Harry Potter book too, and I read it in two days. I could not tear myself away.

    Hi Allimom.
I've been known to read books at a stretch like that to finish them. cute comments about hubby's sneezes. :) I've only read the first Harry Potter book and haven't seen the movies, but now you make me curious to read the others. I did enjoy the first one. Hope the math test went well. (btw - nice hugh jackman photo *grin*)
    Peace, ~~bythesea

I *still* don't have my copy of HP yet. I can't wait till I'm allowed to drive again and can take my sorry self to the book store.
