Them's the brakes
Sat Jun 07 2003

Well, today was quite the change from what we thought it would be. We piled in the van to head down to Portland. About 25 miles down the road we pull into a rest stop so #3 can answer the call of nature, and discover smoke billowing from both back brakes.

Not a good sign.

After limping back home, and resolving to get the van into our mechanic on Monday, we had a totally awesome day with the kids.

We puttered around the house and yard for a while. I thinned out my veggies (and am looking forward to the wonderful salad they will make for our BBQ tomorrow) then took the kids to hide from the heat in the air conditioned theater. We saw Finding Nemo. Good movie. There are many jokes that fly over the kids heads and have the adults in stitches with laughter.

From there we went to check out the pool at the Y down the road from our local one. We had been hearing rumors about the pool at this one being more family and entertainment oriented than ours is. We found this to be quite true. There is a "family pool" for recreation, including two water slides. There is a kiddie pool with a shower/fountain, no one under about 5 allowed in it (well, except their parents), and the "big" pool which is oriented more towards instruction, competition and laps.

We topped the day off at the China Buffet. I think #1 & #2 put away more than every other patron in the place combined. I think with teenage boys, a buffet a week may be in order just to ensure that for at least one meal a week they get all they want to eat! I wish I knew where they put all the food they ate!

Yea, where do they put all that food? I have seen my younger son eat a big dinner, only to have two bowls of cereal afterwards.

    Hi there!

    It's been awhile.

I just wanted to ask you how did you add music to your Diary?

    I love it

Let me know I'm a little behind when it comes to stuff like this

    Thanks
    J

LOL! That sure is a funny golf joke.
The YMCA that you checked out sure sounds posh. None of our local Ys have such fancy schmancy stuff. Buffets are worth every cent when you have teenage boys. My brother can demolish a large pizza and a chicken on his own. Frightful, yet entertaining to watch!
Hope your wheels get fixed pretty soon! Also hoping it won't cost you too much.
    Love,
    E.L.

Yeah, I know, I know. It's about time I got up off my lazy butt and started catching up on diary entries. I'm lining myself to catch up on your diary now. Sorry it's taken so long. (insert hang-dog expression here)
