Now, e-bay is not a bad thing. It is wonderfully helpful for those looking for a bargain, or needing to get something they are unable to find in the store. Me however... that is a different story.
I am a casual comic collector. I receive a few different titles in the mail, and since SIL's introduction, I've added a few to that collection. OK, I've added 947 comics to the collection.
I now officially do not have a single inch of shelf space anywhere in my home. My children have become aprehensive at my glazed look when I go through my books.
Now, in defense of this, I have not paid but a fraction of what these would have cost to purchase in a store. Most of them were purchased in lots of between 10 & 80 books. For the most part I have only paid a few pennies for each idividual book. There have been a few exceptions to this.
Out of these purchases, I have managed to come out with a Mutt & Jeff from the fall of 1943. This came with a box of about 60 older comics. They had belonged to this woman's husband when he was a child, knocking around in their attic for 4 decades or so. She had no idea what they were, she just wanted to downsize. These averaged out to about 4 cents each. I can definitely deal wtih that!
