the quest for sleep.....
Mon May 13 2002

I am getting so sick of not being able to fall asleep! After tossing and turning in bed for an hour keeping Hunkka-hunkka Hubby awake (he has to be up at 4 to go to work) I finally gave up and came out to play on the computer for a while.

At least it was a great day today. The weather was BEAUTIFUL and for the most part the kids all behaved (best Mothers Day Present I could get!).

I was woken up with waffles made by Hunkka-hunkka Hubby. He and the boys let me sleep in and tidied the house before I woke up. I was SO happy to not have that to do today!

Several years ago, I asked my family for basically one thing for Mothers Day. I did not want to have to do dishes the entire day. They all agreed that I should not do dishes for the day. Here is where I realized that there is a world of difference between the way men think, and women think.

Based on that request, as a woman, I assumed they would take care of the dishes for the day. I think that was my first mistake. Their interpretation of that request was that, indeed I should not do dishes. That did not however in their minds mean that they should have to do them. After all, I did not ask that THEY do the dishes for the day, I only asked that I not do them.

Since then I have kept my requests to material things or specific tasks!

LOL! Does this mean that in the morning you wake up to a sink full of Sunday dishes?

Oh, the price we mothers pay.

Ahh the days when my kids were little -
life goes round and round and round -
then one day - they're all gone.
It's hard work but - enjoy!

Definitely a "Y" chromosome trait! The Prof will tell me all the time "don't worry about the dishes". It took me a while to understand that it meant that he literally didn't want me worrying about the dishes. It had nothing to do with the fact that I still had to get them done!

LOL to the dishes, I can relate. Kids have a way of training parents to get very specific with requests.
