Trials & Tribulations

Ah, the joys of home schooling a child with mood disorders.

#1 has decided he doesn't want to do the work today. When it is put in front of him he deliberately does it incorrectly or attempts to destroy the material.

My approach? If he is not going to do the work he is going to be my slave. I am trying to condition him as I would a dog. Positive reinforcement for doing the desired work, and negative reinforcement for not doing the work.

From time to time I bring him back to the school work. I am bit piecing the homework to ease him back into it. If he does the work with no fuss, he earns 5 minutes on a computer game. If he does not he gets another chore.

After doing 3 chores for me he has finally done the homework and earned his first computer break.

Let's hope this is a trend....
