Light reading
Mon Apr 08 2002

When my kids are out playing, or asleep, and I don't have any housework to keep me busy, I read.

I have a few favorite authors that I frequent, currently I am on a Clancy run. These books tend to be a bit on the heavy side at time. During those times I engage in light reading. Here also I have a few favorite authors, as well as the comic books I read and collect (OK, I do share them with the kids, but only AFTER I have read them...).

Recently I have found that I would like to do some light reading, but I've read all my comics, and the books on the shelves are longer than I want to start. I have discovered just the thing for light reading that is only as long as you want it to be.

Like here at DD, aspiring writers try their hand in subjects they enjoy. Personally, I am an X-Men fan. I have read several of the fictions about the characters I have been familiar with for 20 or more years. The situations some of them have gotten into with these stories are wild even by Stan Lee's (see www.marvel.com for info on any of this) standards. Jubilee alone has become almost a "Perils of Pauline" saga in some of these stories. It is an enjoyable and humorous change from whichever 1300ish page book I am currently reading!
