Let it Snow!
Tue Jan 22 2002

first snow of the year, and it almost appears to be sticking. Cool! I may have a 4 day weekend if the schools go into a panic over this!

Who'd have guessed?

OK, according to Ansir.com, I am a Visionary/Empath/Scintillator type of person. For those who know me, do you agree with this? I'm not so sure about some of them....
VISIONARY™ THINKING STYLE
When they solve problems, they focus on what's not been said or done.
They have extremely strong egos.
They tend to be ponderous thinkers and drop-of-a-hat dreamers, and don't mind passing time alone doing both. Able, and conscientious, they tend to inspire confidence in others. Enough so, to generally be thought likely to succeed. Historically, as evolutionarily, Visionarys are the most wealthy, powerful, and happy entrepreneurs on the planet. They've usually seen and smelled more of life's kaka, before passing the "Visionary Lesson," than most experience in a lifetime or more. Where most would buckle in ruin or run from the pressure, Visionary confronts head-on.
They're not only critical linear-thinkers who exceed solution and surpass expectation; they're intuitives. While Idealist can travel logic's path at lightning speed and find solution from step 1 through 10, in the same time, Visionary travels from step 1 through 40 and not only finds solution but returns with a mental blueprint, marketing strategy, and a coloured snapshot of the completed project. These individuals have potential to blaze and raze intellectually. What differentiates them from most is how they cope under pressure.

EMPATH™ WORKING STYLE
These gentle individuals feel successful when they encourage others to be successful.
They are natural-born teachers and instructors.
Uniquely, Empath is not motivated by rewards of status, remuneration, or recognition. Instead, their inspiration comes from contributing to the overall success of group efforts or the success of individuals. They're the benevolent "King-makers," those unselfish magnanimousOnes who unearth potential in others and encourage greatness to bloom.
Empath may not seek leadership roles but many are seated close to top dog chairs in trusted advisor or support positions. They are trusted because of their highly-developed sense of committed team work. Empath works for and with people, harvesting self-fulfillment from the now of personal interactions. From companies they earn a paycheque; from people they earn self-confirmation.

With their seeming determination to avoid applause, accolade, and recognition, Empath is frequently found under umbrellas of untried-genius. Though umbrella'd anonymity is their choice and preference, such untried genius is both loss and waste for the corporation.

SCINTILLATOR™ EMOTING STYLE
When confronted by anger, they head for the door.
They can't sit still without fidgeting in discomfort.
Kinesthetic beings, they learn by physically interacting with the world. Their energy-intellect is so sonar-sophisticated and sensitive they can bodily feel the energy-mood of others or room. Before intellectual or emotional dimensions have time to analyze and prescribe action, their body has already responded instinctively. For them, as for all physical beings, body-instinct can be blessing or curse. Fidgeting is a tell-tale characteristic of this personality Style. Scintillators master early the art of converting physical assets into personal advantages, usually to charm their way out of trouble or to worm their way into another's affection. As children, they prefer the company of adults and older siblings who are often enchanted by their pint-sized antics and precocity. Scintillators like others to be happy, especially with them. Generally, these are the Peter Pans who look and often act younger than their chronological age, and who most dread growing old.
Why is this personality most likely to: be "daddy's girl" or "momma's boy" far into adulthood; be financially struggling at middle-age; have multiple marriages and divorces; have addictions to drugs or alcohol; and be the ones who abandon their children, physically, emotionally, and financially? Because Scintillators subscribe to physical rather than emotional satisfaction.

My dog is a Mama's boy....does that count?

Wide awake and bouncing off the walls

What is it about snow that promotes insomnia in children?
I am unable to go to sleep until all of my children are asleep as they tend to sneak downstairs and watch movies I do not allow them to watch, or get into various other things they are not supposed to (which is partially how the 3 dozen cookies disappeared last week, but that is another story).

Tonight I pointed out to the kids that it was snowing and let them go out and have a snowball fight before bedtime. That was 2.5 hours ago. They are still awake. Mommy is getting grumpier and grumpier as time goes on. If I had Niquil I would have used it by now! Well, maybe.

If they are still up at 11 I am duct taping them all into bed and going to sleep! again, maybe.

Well, at least this allows me to get all the laundry done!

Cookies & Beer

OK, move this week, hopefully unpacked next week.
Hey GirlFrand, when do you want to come up and bake cookies and drink beer? We could color our hair too! What do you think, Fucia and Midnight Blue?

i agree with the first two, but you are definitely not a scintillator. you always remain calm, cool, and collected, and can intelligently defend your opinion in a fair manner.

You have always given me good advice and offered solutions, even when I was even thinking that far ahead. Fear does not stop you, you are willing to go for solutions that aren't easy or even accessable. Nothing fazes you for long- and you have always had my own success and happiness in your sites when you talk to me. Thats why i think you fit the first two.

i'll have to try this one!

I used to give my boys 1/2 glass warm milk and a tab. of honey.
It would relax them until they went sleep.
We all still use it today.

    Peace & Love,
    Honey

Guiness and Pepperidge Farm Gingerbread Man cookies. Count me in. I think I'll stick with my current kinda-sorta-redhead-out-of-a-bottle, though.

I dunno, I see Dave more as a Royal Blue, Canary Yellow or Cardinal Red kind of person. You know, the primary colors type of guy.
