REALLY Easy Strawberry Shortcake Casserole
Sun Apr 24 2011

Seriously, it's REALLY easy, but does take a while to fix only because part of it has to sit for a few hours.

Strawberry Shortcake Casserole

2 pounds strawberries, sliced
1/2 cup sugar
Angel Food Cake
Whipped Cream

Slice the strawberries, mix with 1/2 cup sugar until sugar is melted. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.

Cut the Angel Food cake into bite sized cubes. Press into the bottom of a 9 x 13 casserole. Dribble the juices from the strawberries over the pressed cake, press again and freeze for 1 hour.

Spoon the berries over the cake, refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Serve, adding whipped cream after serving.

Enjoy!

I wish you'd stop posting recipes, you can guess who's going to want that one!

Before he asks, what is angel food cake?

We do (or did) have angel cake which is a sponge sandwiched with buttercream type cream

You realize that you're killing me here, right? I gave up sugar along with Himself but I may be able to replicate it with that fake stuff.
