Packing & Other Stuff
Sun Aug 01 2010

I'm spending today cycling laundry and packing to go to DC for the week on another work related trip. With as much as I've flown this year, I'm starting to wish I had an account for airline miles with one of the various companies out there. Actually, it's been a different airline each time, so I'm not sure how well that would work.

I fly out Monday and get home Friday, when I get to see how well the kids follow directions when I'm not here daily to instruct them on getting their chores done. I'm afraid to see what the house will look like Friday!

Hubby and I started back on the South Beach plan a week ago. We had been on it several years ago, and it got sidelined when we went to Disneyland for a week. We never got back on it until now.

As of this morning I've dropped 6 pounds. Hubby was down 5 pounds yesterday. We're beyond happy with the progress. I suspect I will have some back sliding this next week with the travel. I’m hoping to stick with salads and grilled meats for lunch and dinner. It is the breakfasts I’m worried about. Phase 1 of this plan has no breads or fruits, and that tends to be the staple of most conference breakfasts. It should be… interesting. Maybe I should plan to bring a bunch of V8 and cheese sticks with me… OK, maybe not. I’ll hope to find something that will work, and If I can’t I’ll re-start Phase 1 when I get back.

I had been starting the “Couch to 5K” plan a couple months ago, but started out too enthusiastically and my knee protested LOUDLY. I’m now back to where I was before I started, so I hope to start again, only MUCH slower. In fact, I think I will try the first couple weeks just walking a set distance and then cut the plan in half and go from there. I really don’t want to have my knee yell at me again anytime soon.

OK, back to laundry & packing. Oh what… fun?

I'm addicted to Southwest Airlines. Leave on time, arrive on time. And fares are lower than other airlines going to the same place.

The boys may surprise you. *grin*
