5 With One Blow
Fri Jul 24 2009

Hubby, the boys and I started our day out bright and early at the Department of Licensing. It opened at 9, we arrived at 8:30, and there was already a line of about 40 people in front of us.

We were there to get enhanced Drivers Licenses (State ID card in the case of #3) so we can, if we so choose, travel to Canada or Mexico.

Word to the wise, if you need to do this for yourself, make sure you have all the required documents with you BEFFORE you get there.

This is not a lesson we learned ourselves, but rather one learned by a co-worker of mine. I was more than prepared when we arrived.

Total of 5 each of the following:
Birth Certificates - check.
Social Security Card - check.
Military ID - check.
Proof of address (voters cards and/or selective service cards) - check.
Family - check.

So we arrived, got our numbers, and waited. And waited. And waited.

We finally got out of there at 11:30. Three hours to get 5 people taken care of. The twins and I wisely brought books. Hubby and #3, despite my recommending they do the same about 4 times before we left the house, ended up REALLY bored while they waited.

Have you ever tried to read a book while sitting next to two REALLY bored people? Not easy, trust me on this.

Now we just need to wait the 2 or 3 weeks for them to arrive in the mail, and be sure to take the paper temporary ones out of our pockets before doing laundry. Should be... fun.

    Ah, Bureaucracy. Gotta love it.

My motto: Take a book. Don't leave home without it!
