Befuddled

I had all these things I was going to write about this last week, and I can't remember a single one!

I've been working a LOT lately with some changes we've got going on at work. After busting my butt for 2 weeks with hours considered full time (I typically work 15 hours a week, but came in a smidgen under 80 hours for the past two weeks), and seeing how truly little minimum wage brings in, I am even more inspired to find full time work in my chosen career field. Since #2 is almost done with his last homeschooling class, I'm putting out feelers now to see what is out there.

We can almost make it with just one of the kids in college, and that is with my folks helping as they can. Two kids in college is far beyond our capabilities without me working at a real job instead of part-time in retail-hell.

Actually, the job I'm in would be perfect for something part time in my retirement, but not at the stage in my life now.

Hmm, let's see if I can remember anthing of what I was going to write?

The yard is coming along nicely (my corn just might be knee-high by the 4th of July), and I should be able to thin out my carrots any day now (it just needs to stop raining first), and I can harvest a raddish or 5 now. I have a strawberry that #2 got for me, and I need to find a good home for it outside of the small container it is currently living in.

We are continuing to gear up (so to speak) for Hubby's trip to Afghanistan later this year.

We found out this week that the twins need to have their wisdom teeth pulled SOON, and #2 may have to go back into at least a retainer on his lower teeth as his wisdom teeth are currently helping them to relocate.

Ah, the most fun thing recently. My back. A few weeks ago, I over did it doing yard work. What I thought was an overworked muscle inside of my right shoulder blade stayed sore, then suddenly changed into a pinching feeling that went down into my arm, very similar to how my sciatic felt when I pinched a nerve there a few years back. After two and a half weeks of icing and handfuls of motrin every few hours, I finally went to the doc. It seems that I have a muscle spasm just inside of my right shoulder blade, that is sitting on top of a nerve. Every time the muscle spasms, it pinches the nerve, shooting pain down my right arm into my elbow.

Now I'm feeling MUUUUUUUUUUUUCH better with the muscle relaxers the doc prescribed. In fact, I'm downright slap-happy for a few hours at a time three times a day. I took the meds on an empty stomach yesterday, and the kids were quite amused by my behavior (the key phrase they kept repeating was "Wow! Mom's stoned!" followed by peals of laughter. I felt too good to really care one way or the other about being laughed at.

Oh, the big decision of the week came after we filled the gas tank on the truck. We will be scrimping and saving any extra cash that comes our way from Hubby's upcoming adventure to use as a down payment on a hybrid when he gets home next spring.

I think that's it for those of us in the land of Allimom. Now it's time for me to go take one of those happy pills...
