You've GOT To Be Kidding
Fri Apr 18 2008

Snow; the forecast actually called for snow today. Thankfully it hasn’t snowed, but I’m seriously thinking Mother Nature is out or whack this year.

I bought seeds yesterday for my yearly veggie planting. It will be in a different area of the yard this year, but I’ve no doubt it will still be yummy. Some of the seeds I can plant now, some in May, and the pumpkins in June. Before I plant I want to put a trellis or two up. One for the cucumbers, and I’m considering one for the cantaloupe.

I’m partial to lemon cukes, so those are all that I’m planting this year. I want to put up pickles, but I’ll seek out farmers markets for my pickling cukes.

I think before I plant I’m going to invest in some wood shavings to separate the planting areas and give a quasi-save place to walk through the garden to do weeding, harvesting, and such. That may call for a trip to Wal-Mart today. If I’m lucky. I also need to pick up one more bag of compost. The area I will be planting plum trees in the near future needs just a little bit more of this and I can’t spare any from any other part of the yard.

I made a trip to a local nursery yesterday to find out when they will be getting Mantis egg cases in. Later this month and early May was the response. I will have to venture back up there in a couple weeks! Maybe I’ll pick up another apple tree while I’m there…

Let's hope that when the weather DOES get with the program, your garden goes into overdrive to get the job done!
