I just saw an interview with some "Auto Experts", and most of the questions from the audience were regarding car care and handling during freezing and snowy weather.

One of the suggestions (and obviously this applies to automatic vehicles only), is to NOT set the emergency break at night if freezing weather is expected overnight. Apparently the cables can freeze, resulting in either you not being able to move or burning out the breaks if you drive the car with the brakes frozen and set.

I would think this would apply to manual vehicles also, but the guy didn't comment on this. After all, in a manual vehicle you HAVE to set the parking/emergency brake when you park. Good thing both of our vehicles are automatics, and we don't have to worry about that.

I guess you learn something new every day!
