I’ve got the last batch of 24 pints of pickled asparagus in the canner now, and I’m counting down the minutes until I can take it out, clean up and wash the vinegar and salt off of my hands (I discovered a few paper cuts while canning today). Meanwhile, I'm taking a short break and enjoying the sounds of TING! coming from the kitchen.
The local grocery store also had strawberries on sale, and I looked out in my back yard to see rhubarb ready to pick. Since I came across a recipe for strawberry rhubarb jam, I may have to make some of that this evening while Hubby & #2 are at Civil Air Patrol (#3 has earned a break from CAP this week since he has testing all week). Strawberry-Rhubarb pie is the favorite of #1, so I’m going to enlist his help in making the jam tonight. Don’t tell him though, he doesn’t know it yet!
