Hubby and I have a membership to the YMCA, and while we try to get up there and work out a few times a week, lately we’ve been going just to sit and cook in the hot tub. While sitting in the hot tub this last time, watching everyone else (our third favorite thing to do at the Y after working out and cooking ourselves), we noticed that in the Kiddies Pool there were numerous children, but very few parents. Instead all of the little ones were there with their grandparents, having fun splashing and making noise while grandma and grandpa patiently looked on and splashed back.
I mentioned to Hubby that I thought it would be fun to do the same with our grandchildren someday, and he got a pained look on his face. He admitted that it sounded fun, but he really hoped that our kids waited a while to have their own kids as he could really use a good, long break before having little ones around again.
While I do look forward to having grandchildren (so I can ply them with sugar and caffeine then send them home to their parents), it would be nice to spend time with just Hubby and I for a while. Of course, my idea of spending time together includes going on trips together to see and explore Europe, Asia, South America and Australia. His idea of spending time together involves having our own hot tub in the back yard and never leaving it.
I suppose we will find a happy medium. I’ll have to be sure to only find hotels to stay in that have hot tubs…
