Officially Gone
Thu Oct 26 2006

We haven’t seen the kids across the street in more than a week, but as of yesterday they are officially GONE! The sheriff came out and posted a notice on the door on Tuesday stating that any belongings remaining in the house would be removed the next day (which was yesterday) and if they tried to get into the house again it would be considered trespassing and they would be arrested.. Yesterday morning, a bunch of people showed up to move everything in the house out into the yard next to the street. It has been sitting out there since, covered in a big clear piece of plastic with a large pink notice on it repeating that they are not to re-enter the house.

The kids haven’t returned to get their belongings.

What we think is that they moved what they wanted to keep out last week, and abandoned the rest of the “stuff”. There are a couple tables and lots of boxes in the pile. I haven’t gone to snoop, so I’ve no idea what kinds of things are in the boxes.

I suspect it will sit out there for a while longer, and that eventually people will scrounge what they want to take from the pile before the property managers finally call someone to come haul it away.

While I don’t like having to look at a pile of garbage/rubbish/stuff sitting in the yard across the street, I’m so grateful to have the kids gone that I’m willing to put up with it for a while.

OK, my homework break is over. Back to the grindstone!
