Today's word started out as RASPBERRIES! I got a batch of raspberry jam done, and a batch of sugarless Triple Berry (that was actually done with 4 berries as I was short on strawberries) that combined strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and blueberries. I'm really looking forward to sampling that one when I'm done with everything.

Today's word of the day changed somewhere in the middle of the day to a phrase of the day, "UNEXPECTED NEW DOG".

#1 has a friend who is getting ready to move. His parents made the announcement last night that they can't take the dog with them, so they started looking for a new home before resorting to taking her to the pound. Under normal circumstances I would have said "NO!" without hesitation. #1 started his sales pitch with "My friend has a Great Dane pup..." and that was the only reason I listened to the pitch.

The folks brought her over today so we could see if she got along with Indigo and Shelby. I warned the kids that if the dogs didn't get along we couldn't accept her. Three guesses who got along famously? Yep, all three dogs. We were surprised Indigo took so well to her, and Shelby was no surprise. Shelby and the new pup (her name is Oreo, but we decided it needs to be changed as it doesn’t fit her) ran and chased each other for almost 4 solid hours.

We agreed to take the pup and we are now, at least for a short while, a 3 dog family. The other reason I even considered this was Indigo. I’ve been watching her more closely than usual lately as she is having more and more problems. Twice now she has wet herself because she has been unable to stand up to get outside, and she is falling more and more lately. I don’t think she will be with us for much longer. We’re at the point where Hubby and I need to talk and decide when a good time is to take her in and have her put down before the cool fall weather hits and she is in pain constantly rather than occasionally as she is now.

Night has, for the most part, settled down on the home of Allimom. #2 is up in bed with the new pup (she will be sleeping with him), #3 and Hubby are upstairs either asleep or well on their way to being in that state, #1 is upstairs asleep, and I’m still downstairs with Shelby waiting for her to calm down. How she can still have energy is beyond me. I really hope she settles down SOON though, I’m tired!
