Painting Fiasco
Sun May 21 2006

In my defense, the color was MUCH lighter on the sample than it appeared to be after applied to the walls. The color I choose was a very pale peach color. The color that is on the walls is much darker than a pale peach. Not incredibly dark, but darker than what I thought the sample was.

#2 and I were dropped off at the house to shampoo a carpet and paint a bedroom. It is a small room, and it should have been no problem to have it painted in a few hours. The plan was a sound one; unfortunately I wasn’t quite up to the task.

I will say that the part of the carpet that needed to be shampooed did get done. The entire room could use a good shampoo, but my goal for today was to clean up the mess Indigo made last weekend. That got done. The painting however… not so much.

I’m still feeling fairly rotten, and found that standing for more than about 10 minutes left me lightheaded and in need of sitting down for a while.

So…I explained to #2 what we needed to do, and how to do it. He listened intently, asking questions for clarification on a point or two and them promptly disregarded what I told him and did almost the exact opposite on the painting tasks I gave him. As a result there is paint on the ceiling that will need to be painted over, and some paint on the rug that I’m not sure how we’re going to get it out.

The room will definitely need two coats of paint, and we barely got one coat onto about half of the room. For now though, I’m going to go find a mega-dose of some type of decongestant and some Tylenol or Motrin to get rid of this killer headache I’ve got, and I’m going to not do anything but drink lots of water for the rest of the evening.

Boy I hope I get over whatever this is soon. As soon as I start to feel better, the next day I’m back to feeling rotten. I’m sick of feeling sick!

I'm sorry you're still feeling rotten. Did you try the nasal saline? If not, I hope you do because it really can soothe the rebound irritation of the decongestants.

On the paint front, if it hit the carpet and it's still wet (like maybe you laid a wet towel over it *raises eyebrows in hope*) there is a chance that it will come out. If it's dried, you are in a world of hurt. Dried paint won't come out. If it's a small dab it can be safely trimmed. If it's a not so small dab, welllll...........

Take it easy and get some rest, 'K?
