Crazy Couple of Days!
Thu Apr 06 2006

Yesterday the boys and I headed down to my folks "winter house" south of here to do some puttering around the house and try to finish up some of the projects my folks had on the "to do' list. We got some worked on a bit, but nothing finished.

I had planned to leave the house around 8 yesterday morning, and spend most of the day there, but as it turned out we didn't leave until 10, and had several detours before we even hit the freeway. As a result we were only able to stay there for a couple of hours. I hope to go back Sunday, depending on the weather. Much of what I want us to do is outside, and I admittedly don't care much for puttering about in the rain.

Which is ironic seeing as where I live.

Today I hoped to spend most of the day on homework. Those hopes got derailed when #2 informed me that he needed to purchase a 2-stage rocket for a CAP project he has. We spent almost 4 hours going to every Hobby Shop in the area, no one had what he was looking for. We came home and he is now looking online for the beast.

I was able to get my 2 English assignments written up and printed out, and now I'm still working on the same matrix problem I recently posted, as well as another one I can't get to work out.

I need to leave in a little under 2 hours, and right now I'm taking a sanity break. I was starting to seriously consider throwing my textbook out the window, so I really needed to step away from it for a bit. I've instructed the kids to just "Ignore the twitch in my left eye." They all backed away from me slowly then bolted.

I'm going to read a couple diaries then get back to math. Doesn't that sound like fun?

Later That Same Day...

My math instructor informed us tonight that we don’t actually have to do the problem that was giving me so much trouble. Boy was I relieved! Now I just need to get through the homework for next week and I can rest for a moment.

In English, I got warm fuzzies from a couple of returned assignments. On one I got 14.5 points out of 15, and the second I got 17 out of 20. There was a third assignment, but I was silly and grabbed the wrong sheet of paper off my desk in my scramble to get out of the door this afternoon.

I also got a complement from my instructor on my writing, which definitely was a mood booster. I love to write, and it is nice to get good feedback on it. I find it much easier to write than to speak. When speaking I often have difficulties finding the correct phrasing or words. I don’t have the same problem when I write. Perhaps that is because I can type faster than I can speak. I am able to keep up with my train of thought when writing, whereas I can’t say the same for when I speak.

Hubby has tomorrow off, and he leaves Saturday evening for a couple of months of school. He will be spending much of Saturday with #1 at a Bowl-a-thon for his youth group. The group works through the YMCA doing various community service functions. He originally hooked up with this group as part of his court ordered community service, but he really seemed to find a nitch and a place with this group as a volunteer. They are currently raising money to build a foster home for “meth kids”. These are children who were taken from parents who were arrested for running a meth lab out of their homes.

On another subject, I saw something on TV tonight about something called Foreign Accent Syndrome. Wild stuff, check it out.

Are the certifiably insane allowed to join in on the sanity breaks??? If they are, please add my name to the list ;)

I'd be going insane if I had to work out the math problems you do! Hope you get them solved sooner rather than later! :o)
