What's On Your Desktop... er, Laptop
Mon Mar 27 2006

I'll jump on the bandwagon Yetzirah started.

This is on my laptop. This is Vigna Caracalla a.k.a. Fragrant Snail Vine or Fragrant Corkscrew Vine. I've been trying unsuccessfully to grow this for 2 years. I haven't decided if I'm going to try it again this year or not.

I should mention, that unless grown in a green house or as a house plant, this vine does not do well in cooler climates. If you live in an area where nights get down into the low 40's, or if they dip below 40 unexpectedly, the plant likely won't survive. This is how I lost the plants I had that I originally wanted to bring in and over-winter indoors.

If I do decide to give this plant a go again, it will be as a house plant or if I get a good sized green house.
