A Day In The Life

I flipping hate doing this in word and moving it over to DD, but I’m working on my laptop this morning and this is my 4^th try at the entry.  My thumb keeps accidentally hitting the mouse field and deleting everything I do.

OK, here we go again.

Hubby invited over a mom and her 2 kids last night to use our computers.  It seems they don’t have an internet connection at home and all the members of CAP have some material they need to go through online.

They arrived a little before 7 and were here until 10.  The daughter (who is the same age as the twins) had something messed up with her login and was unable to do the assignment.  The son took 2 hours to complete the task that should have taken 20 to 30 minutes.

Did I mention that the son has ADHD so severe that he makes my kids look calm and sedate?

The mom sat by his side the entire time, reading it to him and prompting him at the end of every sentence to engage in the task and respond to the questions.  The son spent his time not responding to the questions and getting distracted by EVERYTHING.  I finally sent #1 and #3 upstairs to play video games, #2 and the daughter to do the same on a different machine (to try and keep conflicts down) and I took Indigo and Shelby into the other room to keep them from causing distractions.  It didn’t help much, but it was all I could think of doing.

Once the son got through the material, the mom started chatting until Hubby got home. Once she started chatting, she did not stop for 40 minutes.  I immediately saw where the kids got their ADHD from.  She didn’t really say much, but she said it for 43 minutes.

Today I’m planning on keeping the house as quiet as possible so my ears can recover.
