Gods Fireworks
Mon Jul 04 2005

My entries today seem to all be inspired by other people! That’s OK, I need something to do at my computer while I watch the annoying neighbors across the street to be sure their kids don’t set our yard on fire or blow up one of our cars…

As this is the 4th of July, and also Independence Day here in the states, fireworks are on everyone’s mind. which brings the thoughts of God’s Fireworks to mind also. Several times during the year, the earth passes through areas of space filled with debris. One of the biggest meteor showers of the year is rapidly approaching, the Perseids.

During the month of August, this year peaking on the 12th, around midnight in the northeast corner of the sky, the sky will rain fire. For the best view of these, get away from the city, to the darkest and most secluded area you can find (a wonderfully romantic date if you are so inclined…) and watch the sky.

Here are some sites about meteor showers if you are interested in finding out more.
