In my last entry, I wrote:
whenever they criticize our government for sending our military into different countries in support of the war against terror
I didn't mention Iraq at all. I was referring to the war on terror.
While our folks in Iraq do get the most press, we have service men and women in places other than Iraq. We may not have initially gone into the country this time for the reasons we were engaged in the war against terror, but just an observation here, in all the incidents of violence in Iraq since we took Baghdad, who were they with? That would be terrorists.
I’m sure many folks believe that there are currently no reasons why we should have ever gone into Iraq this last time. Then I read articles like this.
While we may not have found WMD's, I don't believe that Saddam was benignly sitting by and not giving some support to Osama and other terrorist organizations. I personally believe that Saddam had anything that would incriminate him relocated to Syria before we could get there to find them. Does that make him innocent of our charges?
I'm going to drop this now before it inflames everyone too much and sends people's blood pressure through the roof.
I support this war, and my governments actions. I support, and have defended your right to have your opinions.
If, however, you come up to me in public and criticize me for my position, please don't be surprised if I defend my opinion. If, however, you choose to become beligerant about this and attempt to force a physical confrontation about it, don't be surprised if I laugh in your face and walk away. If, however, you do these things to me when I'm in public with my children, and accuse them of their father being a murder or any other such accusation, don't be surprised if they react emotionally to you. And while you do have the right to your opinion, you do not have the right to tell my children that what their father is doing is wrong, and imply that this somehow makes them less than the Americans they are. And if this is the case, do NOT be surprised by my reactive actions to your treatment of MY children.
Nuff said.
