Curtains Might Help
Mon May 09 2005

I realized tonight part of what is contributing towards my difficulty sleeping lately. Three houses are being built directly across the street, in which the lights inside and out are ALWAYS left on. There is also a few street lights in front of the house.

All of these come together to shine through the blinds in my window, right onto my face as my side of the bed is immediately next to the window. Pop that on top of a general difficulty falling asleep and you have a recipe for insomnia.

I think maybe while hubby is out of town this week I may re-arrange the furniture in our room. I can think of two possible spots our bed may fit in, both are out of the shine zone.

Either that or I may go see if I can find some dark curtains that will cover up the window, but still allow the air to circulate. We keep our bedroom and bathroom windows open at night (yes, year round, no matter what the weather) to allow fresh cool air to circulate in the bedroom at night. If we don't do this, neither of us can breathe at night.

If I can’t swing either of these, I may have to resort to those awful blinds that some people wear at night for the very purpose I’m seeking a solution to.

We installed some vertical blinds behind our curtains, and it blocks a lot of light, but still allows a breeze.

I remember some old drapes.. well, more than curtains I had in my bedroom. they had a normal look on front side, but on the back they had this stuff that blocked any light what-so-ever
They were gold and hung on hooks.
I hadn't thought of those or that bedroom in many years.
I was laying there when the kids all in bed when a baseball came through and crashed the window.. it was dark out and no one was in sight. I never found out why or who threw it..

go get ya some good thick material.

I like curtains. You could get some dark material that would filter the light and maybe not have to get some heavy material that might prevent the flow of air that you like.

Or maybe you could hang a bamboo screen on the outside, from the eaves. But no, that would work well on a ground floor window, but would be a little difficult to draw up in the daytime.

Ah, well...you'll find your best solution.

We love Harry too. We can't help it. When we get the new book, we don't fight over it. Hub Man has dibs. ;-)

isn't it something . Harry potter has become such a phenomena. and the gal wrote it on scraps of napkin and papers.. To think of where she is now.. I mean. what a world. It's like a big wheel of time. If you hit it just right.. bingo your idea is a hit.. if not.. oh well, keep trying..
    aye
I love the books. And the movies.. What an imagination.

Basenji's are cool dogs. We've got a Brittany (Spaniel-but not really a spaniel), but I don't know how she does for people with allergies. She's a loving pet, with loads of energy so even if all three boys wanted to walk her seperately, she'd still have enough at the end of the day for a romp in the backyard. She's a riot and pretty intelligent. Easy as heck to housetrain, and loves to fetch (mine was a natural fetcher-no training other than to sit and wait until I said it was okay to get it).

That's a cute dog, but it sure doesn't resemble any beagle I've ever seen.

Why not visit your local pound and rescue whatever dog says "Hey, over here! I'm the one you want."

For the record, you have just described my beagle Maisie to a T. And you didn't mention the incessant barking and howling, either. Don't get me wrong, I love her to pieces but if someone wanted to take her off my hands I wouldn't think twice and would get over the loss fairly quickly.

Go for a Kopmondor or Pulli. You'll turn everyone's heads.
