#1 had his day in court today. As a result he will be doing community service in the upcoming months. It has to be completed by October 3, and he has that same amount of time to raise the $100 fine.

It was relatively painless this morning (other than my pantyhose) and we were in and out of the court in roughly an hour. We had been dreading having to sit around for hours on end waiting for our turn to go in front of the judge (as we had experienced when #1 initially got in trouble).

Now I need to call around and find a group for him to do his community service with. I’m considering the Humane Society, but I think I remember being told that they have a minimum age requirement that #1 does not yet meet. I should find out once I start getting in touch with the groups I will be contacting.

This week is Spring Break for the kids. While this would be an ideal time for me to take #1 to and from wherever we find, I’m hoping that I can distract #2 and #3 while I’m away from the house taking #1 to do his time.

As for right now… homework time for the four of us! The twins have math, I've got a routine to write, and I know #3 has something... I just can't remember what.

How about volunteering as a HOST tutor. #1 is a good reader and I am sure he could help little kids learn to read.

Most animal shelter type places won't take any volunteers under the age of sixteen or seventeen. They are also wary of taking "community service" people of any age, since they have to worry about humane treatment of the animals. We run into requests like that a couple times a year at the shelter I work for, and as badly as we need the help we have to turn those applications down.
