Wednesday Morning Ramblings
Wed Nov 10 2004

Last night in my class, the time was set aside to study for the test we will have next Tuesday. Being a holiday, there is no class Thursday, so we have lots of time to get ready for the test.

In theory.

I’m hoping that I can get some time tomorrow through Sunday to disappear for a few hours and study without the help of #3. While I appreciate #3 wanting to be helpful, when it comes to studying, he isn’t.

Tonight we have the student led conference for #2. As I understand it, he is supposed to gather samples of his work from all his classes and lead us through his progress in them. I’m anxious to see how he is doing. We already know his math grade needs (and slowly has been) improving, and now we will find out about the others.

My primary goal for myself today (outside of getting through my dentist appointment) is to clean off my desk. While it may not sound like much, it is a feat unto itself. My desk tends to be the depository for anything and everything for the whole family. While I remember that it is made of wood, I have not actually seen the surface of it for so long that I can’t completely vouch for that fact.

Oh well, time to go light fires under the kids to get them moving faster!

    LOL
Your desk sounds a lot like my kitchen table.. It is large and glass. When I first got it, I used to take great pride in how shiny and clear it was.. I cleaned it several times a day. These days... it is the depository of all ads, junk mail, books, appointment reminders, who knows what all.. We don't even try to eat at the table most times..
What are you taking in school?

LOL!! I have been thinking that same thing regarding my desk. A few times, I have gotten as far as looking at it then I retreat. I am afraid the only recourse is to chunk it all and start over but I just know if I do that I'll throw something important away. Thats usually how it works around here. Important on my desk + cleaning of desk = thrown away. Its a simple enough equation. LOL!!

Student led conference. That sounds pretty interesting. I'll be interested to hear how it went. My daughter is in jr. high and it would probably benefit her to do something like that (as well as my 10yr old). This semester's conference was led by the teachers as usual.

    Have a good night!

I know all about the desk thing, it is like a big looming giant monster in the corner of our living room.

I have all these ambitions of getting the house under control, fully cleaned and organized. And then I see the 4 tornadoes coming and think, what is the point?!??!

The student led conferences seem like a wonderful idea, I wish our district would put something like that in place. I think it would be helpful to the kids, for the reasons you listed.

Last but not least, while boys will be boys (lol) my favorite phrase is "This to shall pass"

    Hi ya
I have a couple things to say.. First I love the idea of a student presenting the parent home night deal. I have never heard of it before, but I'm going to suggest it with your PTA committee. Not only does it allow the kids the opportunity to get the stuff organized and presented (which is a lesson in itself) but it also helps them see just how much progress they have made.. and how far they have yet to go.. Very neat idea

The black eye and fight.. Oh I hate it.. My GS had the same thing last year right before I put him in the private program for 10 months. He had gotten suspended for weapons violation previously and then goes back after a term of home schooling, which almost did me in, and gets into a fight! The vice principal watched the whole thing.. Jerk.. He is now at the High School. Joy of joys..

Finally I don't have a Ball Blue Book, but think I know how you made it.. You must have had about 3 lbs of apricots??
I wanted to send a couple recipes.. and I think I have your email..
Let me know what you think?
Have a good Vet's day.. 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, we remember our Veterans, our POW's, our MIA's and those fighting now..
    Later

When our daughter had a bad cut on her face the plastic surgeon who stitched the cut had her apply Vitamin E every day. It worked great. Today you can not see where the cut was.
