#3
Mon Oct 25 2004

For the next two weeks, #3 will be un-medicated. The doctors decided that it was perhaps a good idea to take him off all meds, and then do a complete re-evaluation of him to see if there is perhaps a better medical course for him to take. They are currently making noises about Stratera, but are going to take a wait and see attitude until the end of the two weeks.

What does this mean for #3? It means he will be bouncing off the walls, be completely unable to sit still or focus, and be completely hyper for the next two weeks. Since this is not a good condition in which to send him to school, we have chosen to keep him home for these two weeks. The school breathed a sigh of relief and agreed with us.

I will be picking up and dropping off his assignments daily, and having him do homework here at home or at the library with me while he is home. I suspect we will be more successful doing homework at home, but there are times I need to get away from the distractions of the house in order to focus on an assignment. Those will be the times we go to the library.

So far today hasn’t been too bad. Of course he hasn’t had any homework yet as I will be picking it up after his school gets out, and I’ve been running #1 and #2 between the orthodontist and school most of the morning while #3 kept his dad busy at work. So as of this writing, today has been a successful day! Time will tell how our successes continue.
