Uncertainty

We have been informed that there is a “Child Board” being held tomorrow involving all the big mucky-muck’s here on the base, which will be addressing what actions they believe the authorities should take regarding what happened with #3 last week. It is being held at the base legal office, which immediately caused our Spidey Sense to tingle.

Hubby called to see if this was something that we needed legal representation for, and initially was told no. However, when he called the legal office, he was given a message to the effect that they couldn’t talk to him about this or represent us since they were behind the investigation.

Oh boy.

He did get a hold of the JAG for his unit, who is about a 5 hour drive north of here. He explained to him what happened, and what was going on. The JAG made sounds back to Hubby which implied that he thought this was much more serious than we were led to believe from the folks here; the kind of serious that could get #3 taken away from us and put into a psychiatric institution.

At this point, panic officially set in for both of us. We began making phone calls to anyone and everyone who could be there for this board and give witness to previous behavioral issues, and present behavior issues, attest that #3 is a good kid and do anything else to equate shaking pom-poms and being in our corner. We’ve got the principal going with us with a copy of his IEP and other information to back us up. At the meeting with the police last week the principal didn’t remember that #3 was on an IEP and the police were told that he had no type of behavioral plan or anything in place. Since that was incorrect, and the paperwork has in fact been found and everyone at the school brought up to speed with what is going on with #3, hopefully that will help to avoid much of the otherwise unpleasant issues that potentially could arise.

I’m off to buy TUMS to replace all that Hubby and I were gobbling up by the handfuls yesterday. I may come home with a few cases of that and possibly some Maalox.

I think it's odd that schools have this..."zero tolerance" crap on some things and others like bullying are not addressed.

    Overeaction.

    And underdiscipline.

I'll take a Tums for ya.....

Hooboy! Typical bureaucratic (government) over reaction. Hasn't anyone taken in the fact that #3's tormentors share the blame?

    This is really too much.

I guess common sense has flown out the window.

    Good luck!

Geez, I was just getting caught up in my reading and discovered what happened with #3. What a crock. I don't know a child who never threatened to take some drastic measure, especially under pressure.

We live in a strange age. We live in an age where things like Columbine happen, yet the truly troubled still fall through the cracks. We live in an age where any amount of discipline is decried as abuse, yet we moan at ill adjusted youth. Where does it end? One of my co-workers got a visit from the police when her neighbor overheard her tell her grandson "I'll beat your ass" when he tried to run into the road. She would NEVER abuse that child. She simply let him know there would be consequences if he tried it again. It seems that common sense has gone out the window. I'm sorry your being victimised by such idiocy.

    Hugs

Has the world gone completely nuts? To have brought in three detectives in the first place was over reacting, but this is like nuking an ant for being on the kitchen table!

You all are in my prayers.
