System Performance Problems

Just a quickie to let you know that we’ve just become aware of the performance problems on the server. I’ve seen a few disturbing things go through the system log that make me suspect someone might be trying to bring the server down. Rest assured, if you are reading this and guilty, we will find you.

It could also be a problem with the system and in either case we will aim to have the problem fixed as soon as possible.

PS. a request. In the future, when you notice things are running slow for a couple of days – let us know, don’t just write about it in your diary 🙂 (by all means, complain in your diary too, but let us know at support@deardiary.net because in all likelyhood – since the site’s busy time is when Steve and I are asleep – we won’t know about it unless you do). Thanks! 🙂

Matt.

  1. You guys sleep!!?? well the nerve of you two.*giggles* I just figured it’s that code red virus slowing stuff down..*shrugs*

  2. Word up, fellas?

I’ve been using ZoneAlarm for awhile now and it’s a wonderful little firewall. Anyway, for about a week now I’ve been pounded by IPs trying to access my HTTP (80) ports. I mean, obviously this is weird. I figured some punk posted my IP as a web address or something – until all of my friends using firewalls asked me what was up with them being pounded too. Looks like it’s Code Red still being a pain in the ass, though.

Dunno if that’s what you’re seeing, though.
