Walnut Tree Down

Sat. Oct 26 – Walnut Tree Down

Ugh! There is supposed to be a big storm coming later today, rain and high winds.  The walnut tree out front is dead and swaying a lot so Hubby cut a couple of branches off the other day and #2 Son came home from work today to help him cut the rest down but he has been trying to fix his truck instead. So annoying.  He won’t quit. He has been working on it all week! He thought it was the brakes then discovered it is the bearings.  They keep giving him the wrong parts and he has to go back.  I don’t know. Crazy!

The Goober came over after hockey and he #2 Son cut the tree down.  Wow, good job done!  Had to keep it away from the hydro wire too.  We got it all cut up and stacked and put away.  So glad I made turkey soup this morning for supper, it was so good when we came in!  Treating them all to Marble Slab icecream for dessert.

Rotten Board & Election

Sunday, Oct 20 – Rotten Board!

I had parish council after church till 2, then went to a funeral at cave springs winery, really nice, like a party.  Came home and was so nice started to put the patio stuff up in top of the garage. We got it all ready at the bottom and I went up to the top. B handed me a chair and just as I turned to put it in the door, my leg fell through a rotten board!  I have a big scrape and will have a huge bruise tomorrow!  Now Hubby has to fix it before we can put the stuff away and it’s supposed to rain the rest of the week.  #2 Son and his friend ran a half marathon along the parkway his morning.  They did it in 2 hours, 20 minutes which was good,

Monday Oct 21 – Election Day

My leg is sore.  I can’t lay on my right side, it hurts when anything touches it.  Went to vote this morning.  B is voting for her very first time, same with Little B.  Won’t know results until tomorrow.  It was a beautiful warm sunny day.  Hubby fooled trying to fix his truck all day.  He got new pads and rotors as the auto place had given him the wrong ones.  Now he thinks it is the bearings.  I did laundry, did some weeding, got the porch carpet ready to put away for the winter, and then went out to supper with church group.  #2 Son took day off so he was there when the inspector came.  Still has a few small things to do but they can start the  insulation.

Tuesday, Oct 22

I made a pork roast for supper.  Ken worked on his truck again.  I got the church books caught up

Birthday and New Roof

We went to Joeys Only for my birthday supper tonight as I worked last night.  We lucked out, they had a 25 th anniversary special, 2 pc fish and chips for $5.95!  It was packed but we didn’t wait too long.  Yesterday we got an estimate for a new roof, $4000 including material.  We went and picked out shingles and they delivered them today.  The guys will do the roof tomorrow as it is supposed to be nice.  I have to work.  I sold 9 jars of honey at work today.

Thanksgiving

Sat. Oct 12 – cleaning

I got the stuffing ready for Sunday and then I cleaned out the dining room.  Now we can move in there and 8 adults can eat around the table and I will have 8 kids around the kitchen table.  I was exhausted afterward.  Too tired to go for a skate.

Sunday, Oct 13 – Thanksgiving

I took the boys and Maddy to church, Win brought the girls but there was no Sunday school.  It was cool and cloudy off and on.  #2 Son had a crew, including #1 Son, over at the new house to correct the things the inspector said had to be done.  We ate about 5 pm.  I wasn’t feeling good, didn’t eat too much, had cramps in my stomach. I fell asleep after dinner while the girls did the dishes. I went to bed early.

Monday, Oct 14 – Art Show

I feel better today.  I did all the dessert dishes and put everything away and back to normal.  After lunch Win picked me up and we went to the Balls Falls Art Show but it was very expensive, $7 each to get in, mostly food, didn’t buy anything.  We had parked the car up the road so we got a good walk in.  Hen we went to see Mom. We took her down to the cafeteria and got her a tea and we had coffee.  Then we went home and had leftovers for supper.  Hubby worked on his truck as Frank welded up a hole.  I work Tuesday, off Wed.

Cleaning, New Vehicle

Tuesday, Oct 8 – cleaning

I brought most of the plants indoors today.  I cleaned the blue kitchen cupboard and all the tins and the ceiling fan.  I also made spaghetti squash casserole.

Wed. Oct 9 – Photo Club

I went to photo club after work. There was a guest speaker who does street photography.  She was really quite interesting and her photos were good.  She has inspired me to give it a try.

Thurs. Oct 10 – New Vehicle

We went at 9 to pick up my new Rav 4. The young salesman went over all the instruments etc inside.  Just love the colour, black currant.  Will have to think of a name for her.

#2 Sons inspection of his house didn’t go well.  He has to take all the windows out and put vapor barrier in between something, I don’t really get it but it’s dumb and most places you don’t have to do this.  Also, the framer made a mistake framing the basement so he has to cut some down or something.  The inspector was a jerk. The electrical and plumbing are fine though.

New Car, Bishop

Saturday, Oct 5 – Toyota Rav 4

Since my old Camry is 16 years old, Hubby and I went car shopping this morning and I found a car I really liked.  It is a 2018 Rav 4 xle with 31,295 km for $28999.  – $32,400 with the tax etc.  It has heated seats, heated steering wheel, back up cam etc,  everything I wanted.  We went home and I went to see mom and take her to a gospel concert at the home.  It was good.  I went back home and back to the dealer and signed the papers to buy the car but when they went over the warranty she said it is front wheel drive and we thought it was all wheel so she said to come back Monday with Hubby.

Sunday, Oct 6 – Bishop Susan

I went to church as the Bishop was at our service today.  We had a light lunch in the hearth room afterward.  I came home, raked apples and cut all the grass.  Then I got some groceries including some squash to cook tomorrow for Thanksgiving.  Made Mac salad for supper.  May have to babysit tomorrow as the school support staff may go on strike tonight at midnight.

Monday, Oct 7 – Cars

I went to WW and was down again for a total of 18.5 lbs.  Win got her 25 lbs!   I didn’t renew my membership as I only have 6 lbs to go.  I got some more groceries, had lunch and then we went to Performance cars to see about the Rav 4.  We pick it up on Thurs morning.  I didn’t have to get the boys off the bus as #1 Son got home in time.  I baked a lot of squash and froze it and did some spaghetti squash for tomorrow.  B is going to use my car but now it has a flat tire. Ugh!

New Boat

Tuesday, Oct 1 – Bottling honey

I did dishes and laundry. Hubby had hung the tablecloth we put on the floor while doing the honey, on the clothesline and it was covered with bees.  Hung the clothes up anyway. It was fine.  We spent most of the afternoon put the honey through one more sieve and bottling it.  We got 20 x 500 ml jars.  #1 Son drove to Toronto to pick up a load from an auction so I had to go and pick up the kids after school.  Brought them back and gave them supper.

Friday, Oct 4- New Boat

I went to Euchre Wednesday night.  Today Hubby was supposed to go with Frank to look at a used boat for sale near Dunnville.  They left here at noon and when I got home at 5, no one was home.  I picked tomatoes as we are supposed to get a frost tonight, had my supper and about 7 as they still weren’t home, I messaged he guy with the boat and he replied that no one came to look at it today. That scared me as I thought of what happened to Tim Bosna when he sold a truck on kijiji and was murdered!  I called B and she was shocked and said she’d be right home. I called Frank but the line was busy, then B told me Frank didn’t go, Eric did.  So I called Eric’s cell and got hold of them. They were sitting having coffee nearby. Geez!  They had been to see the first boat but got there early before the seller and looked at it and saw it was a piece of crap, so left before he got there. Then they looked at some other boats and ended up buying one in Welland.  They paid $4100. For it and brought it home.

Bs car is broken down. It might be the big battery and it’s not worth paying for a new one as it’s a hybrid.  I may have to go shopping for a new car so she can have mine.
