The stolen cellphone incident has led to a very unexpected side effect. When I did the Reverse Lookup yesterday morning for the text I received and saw how easy it was to find the caller’s name and address, I looked up my own mobile number to see what would come up. Was I surprised at the results — my age, current address, and five previous addresses, a couple going back more than 30 years! There was only one error — a very old address from the early ’80s was shown with the apartment number reversed, not a major thing.
Just a few short years ago, it was extremely difficult, most often impossible, to get info on a cellphone number unless you used a pay site. But now it’s easy.
Then an old acquaintance popped into my head: Eric, a guy I hooked up with sexually on five different occasions from November 2005 to April 2006, and whom I wrote about extensively in this diary back in those days. We didn’t hook up again later on, but did share porn stories we had written with each other in early 2010.
I still knew his cellphone number from memory, so I decided to look it up. And was I surprised at what I found!
I found out his real last name. The surname he’d used on his email (and his online porn pieces) was not his real name, but after locating him on Facebook (which I had never been able to do before), and reading a number of posts, I determined that the name was a family name, after all. But just not his.
As I said, I found him on Facebook now that I knew the real name… and I read his posts extensively and with interest.
Looks like he’s from Ohio, too… but from the other end of the state, near Cincinnati. He went to college in Tennessee, and is now seriously involved with the theater, and is even a professor! I had no idea, except that back in the day I once asked him what he did, and he merely told me he worked in children’s theater.
He’s also partnered now. A decade ago, I wondered what it might be like to be in a relationship with him. I realize now it would not have been the best thing for me. I’m happy for him that he found someone.
Now I’m debating whether I should contact him on Facebook, send him a very casual private message, maybe try friending him. I’m not sure what I’m going to end up doing in that regard. But I know I need to keep it really light.
Looks like my summer “vacation” has already begun. Keinya and Steve are once again working their summer job at a restaurant out near the islands, starting this weekend, which means they’ll be gone four days a week right on up to November. The house was very, very quiet last night, which I like.
