I have looked over the diary index here and decided were I my boss, I would fire my fanny for deriliction of duty. I have no clear cut reason to give for my 'slacker' phase. I could make up a list of excuses, but I will spare you the litany of wimpy alibis.
Today I ventured forth to get supplies. The only thing that will truly get me out the door sometimes is to flat run out of milk. Lack of milk in the house makes me nervous. I went over to Wal Mart and bought myself two of these… http://www1.shopping.com/xPR-Jiffy-Professional-Greenhouse-Kit~RID-913819
I'm not sure that I will fill them both up…. 72 plants in each one! But then I could get some flower seeds started maybe. Only thing about this particular style is that the tomato seedlings grow out of room real quick. I will need some re-potting strategies I can tell. Every year it is a guessing game as to when to start the seeds. I'm not even considering it yet. Even though I DID plant a bunch of Sweet Peas outdoors along the fence. The seeds were really cheap ones I found somewhere, and I think I know why they were cheap. I sprouted them indoors first, and the germination rate was abysmal. I'm waiting for the Seed Saver's seed order to arrive, and then I will be pretty much set.
The tree service came the other day and removed our overgrown willow tree in about 20 minutes. It made me feel so nostalgic to hear a chain saw. For years we heated our house exclusively with wood, so I know my way around wood gathering. But these guys chopped up the whole tree in a giant tree eating machine. What a waste of good BTU's! They also cut down about 7 trees on our street that had been planted improperly and had obnoxious root systems that were starting to cause problems. Including the sycamore in our yard. So right now the only tree in our front yard is our apple tree. It's going to be really hot out there this summer. That willow was a terrible messy thing, but our front yard was almost oasis-like because of the nice shade it provided.
