Yesterday we went to see Avatar in 3D.
The first time we saw it was in the normal way. I enjoyed it. It has its flaws as a movie, but there are parts of it that are quite appealing. The colors were brilliant and the scenes exotic.
Case in point:
I was quite disappointed in the 3D version however. For me, the movie ended 3/4 of the way through, when I had to leave because I was getting nauseous. I found the 3D mostly distracting and annoying. There was only one charming moment, and that was when the little jellyfish like things were floating in the air around the main character. They really did look like they were right in front of me.
I decided that 3D is not worth sitting through if I have to stop and hurl on the way out on top of the discarded popcorn bags in the trash bin… ya know?
The movie suffered under the burden of its own technology. My eyes hurt. My stomach rebelled. Bummer.
Happily, there were no long range ill effects. Today I am bright eyed and ready to face the day. Only thing is, the wind is blowing like a banshee and it's spitting rain on and off. I'm housebound for sure. Maybe it's a good day for soup making or some such hunkering down activity.
Thank goodness the 3D glasses will not be required.
