Dairy, we still gots 2 weeks before we leave on our mission trip and I’ll tell ya the truth I’v already been ministered to. It gonna cost each person $50 dollars to go. That is for lodging and food for 4 days. You can’t beat that. But I’ve had several people pay for someone who couldn’t afford to go and I’ve had others tell me if anyone can’t pay for themselves to let them know. I also had a fella come up to me after church yesterday and tell me that he was paying for my children. Dairy, that hit me right out of the blue; I had absolutely no clue. I didn’t know what to say. YOu really want to say “Hay man, you don’t have to do that”. But you know what Dairy, I’ve seen the blessing others have gotten from participating by helping someone else go and I guess I need to put pride aside and let this couple pay for my kids. That’s one of the most touching things I’ve had happen to me in a looooooooooong time from someone other than my wife or kids. It was pretty cool.

Dairy, I got to work tonight and the boss says, “Von your just the man I wanted to see. I need to someone to train to do the work leaders job when he ain’t here.” I asked him if he wanted me to find someone to do the job for him, he responded “I’m looking at the man I want to do it.” Heck I’ve been doing it for the past 4 days anyway so I guees I’ll start training on that next week. I think my training will consist of following the work leader around being told what he does. It’s mostly the computer stuff I need to learn, that shouldn’t be to complicated. I won’t mind doing it as a fill in. As a fill in I won’t be held as accountable for any screw ups like the regular work leader is.

Dairy I gots to get busy and make an eyetenorary and a what two take list fore our trip by tomorrow.

Dairy, What’s up dude? It was hard going back to work after all that time off and all that fun. My work leader hasn’t been there the last 2 days and I’ve run the show. The first couple or three times I did that everything went real smooth. I guess it’s been smooth the last couple of days also but I made some decisions. We sort of had a situation come up wednesday morning where one of the guys asked me what he should do and he didn’t really agree with my answer. Fortunately the 1st shift work leader came early a few minutes later so we asked him and he said Von made the right decision. There was a few things that came up tonight and I just decided what to do and set the paperwork up to do it. If I was wrong I reckon I’ll find out tonight, but I’m pretty confident I was right.

Dairy, other than work I isn’t done much the last couple of days. No I have made a couple of phone calls about our upcoming mission trip to Georgia. I’ve still got a few more details to work out but it’s basically planned out and waiting to be executed. We will be leaving in about a week and a half and hopefully things will be real laid back until then.

I IS VONSTEGALL AND I HAIN’T HAD NO CHICKEN GIZZARDS IN NIGH ON TWO TO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!

Dairy, it’s 2:13a.m. monday night/tuesday morning. We jest gotted back from New York. Here’s how it went.
THURSDAY: I got off work thursday morning at 5:00 a.m. I got a quick shower and we left at 5:30. We stayed in Gettysburg Penn. Thursday night. We visited Gettysburg National Military Park and went to a covered bridge(I love covered bridges for some reason).

FRIDAY: Dairy, we got up played putt-putt, and chess with a “giant chess set”(the pieces were about 2-3 feet tall. Jamie beat me twice. We then went to Gettysburg National Cemetery. It was very moving seeing all the gravesites of people who are willing to give their lives for what they beleive in. Then we drove to Cooperstown New York. It rained just before we entered New York and we drove into New York looking at beautiful rainbow that went from a mountain on the right side of us to a mountain on the left side. We then drove under the rainbow, it was pretty cool.

SATURDAY: Dairy, it was Jamie’s 16 birthday and we took him to The Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. We spent about 2 hours there and then went and ate and played laser tag. Then back to the Baseball Hall of Fame for 2-3 hours. Then we left for dinner and putt-putt and more laser tag. The kids went swimming also.

SUNDAY: DAiry, it was back to the Baseball Hall of Fame for several hours. Then we went to Glimmerglass State Park on Lake Otsego. This was the setting for James Fenimore Cooper’s book Deerslayer, one of my favorites. We also saw the oldest known covered bridge in the country(I love covered bridges for some reason). Then we explored the country side; we saw some homes of Amish people, groundhogs, deer, wild turkey, and Holstein Dairy cows.

MONDAY: Dairy, we got up and drove most all day and got home tonight. We had planned on staying somewhere about halfway but we decided to come on in. I was hoping to stop off and see some covered bridges(I love covered bridges for some reason) in Pennsylvania but there weren’t any near the route we took.

DAiry, my boy is 16 and I just hope we are doing a proper job of preparing him for his adult life. I know his neurological problems have made him immature for his age but I sure hope I’ve done the right things for him. I sure do love that boy, DAiry.

Dairy, I’ll never forget what Lynn gave me for my first father’s day. She gave me a son. Yeah, my boy was born on father’s day, that was pretty cool. We was sort of worried about whether he would like the Hall of Fame or not, but I think he really loved it. I thought he was gonna read every plaque with every exhibit and he almost did. I think the thing we enjoyed best was a video of Abbot and Costella doing the “WHO’S ON FIRST” routine. It was a lot longer than I thought it was. We watched it over and over and laughed the whole time. NOw Jamie wants to find some Abott and Costella movies.

Dairy, how thhe heck arre you?
I’m dowwn to my lasst day before we take a little trrip. I’m only gonna worrk six hours tonighht and then off we go dudde. Lynn brokke down and tolld Jamie we was takking a trip but she didn’t tell him wherre we are goinng. He was so wantinng to invitte friends over so we finnally told him so he woulld stop asking. He acted like he didn’t thinnk we had made fun plans; I tolld him if he didn’t have a goood time I’d give him a $100. He said even if he did havve a good time he woulld pretend not to for the money, but I amendeed my statemennt to if he didn’t have a good timme in my opinion. Which I’m sure he will. I know I’m sure looking forwarrd to not workinng for 5 dayys.

Dairy, I got my birthdaay/father’s day gifft this week. My birthdaay is still
a few weeks off but Lynn wantted to give me the gifft earlly so we calleed it my father’s day gifft also. She got me a New Living Testament studdy Bible. I’ve been readinng hers a lot latelly. The old testamennt is a lot easieer to read than the King James Version. Paul saiid something like thiis; I’d rather speak fivve words of understandinng than a hundreed words in an unknown tonguue. That’s the VonStegallese paraphrase. I’d ratheer read five words thaat I can understand thaan a whole book that makees no sense. Me and the preacher had thiis discussioon a few weeks ago when discussing the possibilitty of giving out Bibles on our summeer mission triip. He favors the KJV. Me and hiim grew up hearinng lessons on the KJV so we understannd a lot of it that wouldn’t makke any sense to someone with no Bible knoweledgge. I probablly wrote about that discussioon already but hear it is agaiin. Anyway I love my NLT.

Dairy, how are you? I’m right aggravated right now. We are having computer problems. We somehow loaded some kind of program that has screwed up our internet access. We can get it but it’s very aggravating. We can’t get but one freaking page at a time and then we can’t go back or to another page without closing out everything. I’ve tried to read some other diarys but can’t go back when I finish. It has taken quite a while to figure out how to get here and make and entry without screwing things up.

Dairy, 3 more days and then off we go. I can’t wait dude. I spent all that time getting here and now I can’t think of a thing to say now that I’m here. But you wait until next wednesday and I’ll have plenty to say.

Dairy, I’m fixin to make another unsuccessful attempt at losing weight. I’ve done crunches for the past week. I’ve also wathced my serving sizes. I’m hoping to lose a few pounds and maybe my feet won’t hurt so much and maybe I will be able to play a little ball without breathing so hard I can’t stand up straight. Dairy, I played basketball with a dude a couple of weeks ago and it about killed me. Of course this young,tall, very fit, very healthy fellow still got a licking from a short fat, bald out of shape, old man, who could hardly breath. So in order to protect his identity I’ll not give his name, I’d hate to hurt his self confidence. We only played about 15 minutes, I can’t believe it took me that long to score 11 points.

Dairy, we are one week out from our surprise birthday trip for Jamie. I’m already looking forward to it. This time next week we should be somewhere right around the NC/Virginia state line on Interstate 77. I can’t give no specifics incase he reads this, I don’t think he will but can’t take no chances.

I IS VONSTEGALL AND I’M BAD OUT OF SHAPE!!!!! ANYONE FOR A GAME OF BALL?

Dairy, we have decided, and when I say we I mean me and Lynn and Jamie. We have decided that Jamie should wait awhile on taking driver’s ed. I know he’s gonna be 16 soon but he arsn’t ready, in fact very few 16 year olds are if you ask me. We asked Jamie how he felt about it if Kimber took it before him and he said that was fine with him. So I took Kimber driving one day this week, I can’t remember which one. She seemed to like it and I think she would of drove all day if I had let her. Jamie usually drives about 5 minutes and he’s ready to quite. I’m glad Jamie arsn’t as interested in it as Kimber is. That made it a lot easier on us to make our decision. Jamie made the comment that he wasn’t mature enough to drive and that in it’s self is a sign of maturity. We have seen Jamie make great strides over the last several years and I hope he continues to do so.

Dairy, It’s been a long week. It looked like summer just didn’t want to come this year, but it came with a vengence this week. It was hovering around 100 degrees when I got to work most days this week. I’m so glad to be on night shift, it cools down to the mid 80′s about 3a.m. most nights. I don’t miss 2nd at all. And it’s still a lot cooler than the tire plant.

Dairy, a few weeks ago my work leader told me that he was thinking about training me to do his job for when he arsn’t there. At first I was like… I don’t know if I want to take on that responsibility, but sadturdnight I was told the work leader wasn’t going to be there and I was going to do his job. It turned out to be a pretty good night. Things ran pretty smooth. I guess if he says anything else I’ll take him up on it, there are some things on the computer I probably need to be able to do, other than that I can pretty much handle the job. Nothing came up saturday night that required using the computer but it may in the future. I didn’t tell anyone I was told to do the job but I guess someone found out because it seemed everyone was asking me what to do or where to put an order next, if they wasn’t sure, of course they do that a lot even when the work leader is there. I guess that’s why I was told to do the job. I made it a point not tell anyone to do anything directly but I did make a few suggestions which no one had a problem with.

Dairy, next week I have the opportunity to go in early everyday if I want to. I don’t really want to but seeing as to how we has this trip coming up in a couple of weeks I think I’ll try to get a few more hours. The pay period begins on friday and it’s early sunday morning and I already have 16 hours over. If it wasn’t so dadburn hot I’d probably stayed longer tonight. I’ll play it by ear and see how I feel throughtout the week and decide each day. Dairy, I’m so looking for the day when I don’t HAVE to work overtime. It’s getting closer but I think we still have a few more years to fully recuperate from the job loss and then the transition period between jobs.

Dairy, I want to share a story from a book I’m reading. I don’t want to get it wrong or forget so I typed this sentence to remind me later. The book is in the bedroom and I don’t want to wake Lynn up so it’ll have to wait. Now I should remember, maybe.
