Dear Dairy,
I went to the roundtable meeting yesterdiy, but I didn’t see no round table only a great big oval one a few small square ones. I was informative and I got some free sample of chemicals and saw several demonstrations that will be helpful later on providing I ever get any customers.

Today is sunday and I have to teach this week. We are still in ecclesiates and also colossians and 2 corinthians or “eleventh corithians” as the news reporter said. Solomon talks about trying to have a fullfilled life and then sums it up by saying a fullfilled life is serving God. Paul also states that the reason for living is to prepare for our eternal residence.

Well Dairy ol pal, I have an exciting after church activity planned, sleeping. It seems like if I don’t get plenty of sleep sunday afternoon before going to work, that I drag all week. This should not happen today, there is no meetings to go to that I know of and I hope there aren’t any surprises when I get there today.

My dearest Dairy,
Today I exorcised my second amendment right to bear arms. That’s right I cut off the sleeves of every shirt I own. No I bought me a gun. I love to read westerns and have always wanted a pistol so I got one today. It is a thirteen shot pistol. The only thing about it is I live near the north carolina and south carolina state lines. In one state a weapon has to be in view and in the other it has to be out of sight, and I can’t remember which is witch. I really need to find out which way it works if I intend to carry it wiht me int he car. I wonder if it being loaded makes a difference, right now I can’t load it anyway they didn’t have any caps where I bought it. Yea it is a toy, I know that sounds childish but hey it was on sale for .25, besides I ain’t to concerned what people think of me.

We bought some more stuff for bingo night, it is only a month away. We also went out to lunch today, without the kids. It was so.. so… so quiet, yeah that its… quiet. We went to a place called Midway Barbeque. I guess because it is midway between the post office and benton heights elementary school(that is my alma mater). Lynn had chopped pork and I had ribs, it was good.

Tomorrow I is going to a roundtable meeting for pressure washers. I hope to get some valuable info and advice from other washers. They are also gonna be companies giving samples of their products. Maybe it will help me be a better powerwasher, of course without any customers I don’t reckon it will matter if I am a good washer or not. Oh well I can always work some overtime at the plant(as long as it is there).

We are gonna go to mississippi on oct the 12-15 and help with some of the clean up. The preacher sent a list of things to bring and one of the items is a pressure washer if you have one. I have one but I don’t know if’n I want to pull it twelve hours, but if we rent a van and someone, nah I don’t think I would trust anyone else to pull it. Anyway I already have the first four hours of each day covered for vacation time and I’ll get the last four hours for each day covered by monday evening. Boy am I looking forward to a short week at the plant.

Hey Dairy if’n we hadn’t of cancelled our beach trip we would be getting home today. Oh well maybe next year.

Dear Dairy,
Let me clarify something, when I said I would not participate in fundraisers I meant that I would not donate time or money for the event, such as putting on a barbeque. I will however buy from a barbeque plate from a fundraiser, like from a fire department and even a church. I like barbecue.

Oops Dairy, we made a boo-boo at work. Somebody built some tires with the wrong component and it got sent to ford. Now we is gonna have to “prove” ourselves to ford. We had us a butt-chewing meeting today and it was said that we could have long lasting ramifications from this. Then they stressed that we are not in any position to be making mistakes.

My first reaction was they are just trying to pad their excuses to shut us down. But on second thought they would not do that because even if they shut down our plant they don’t want to jeopardize their business with prominent customers, afterall they still need customers for their other plants. I’ll be glad when april(contract expires) gets here so we can see how this thing plays out.

Last night church started at 7:17 and we got there just as it started. I hate getting somewhere at start time. To me if you are only two minutes early you may as well be 30 minutes late. I like to get places early. On sunday mornings I usually get to church an hour early, I usually get to work about 40 minutes early. Lynn are just the opposite she likes to get somewhere exactly on time. Tonight we will be there early, besides some people has been sitting in our pew and we got to beat them there. The nerve of some people, we been sitting in that pew for 20 years, are people just that inobservant(is inobservant a word). No I’m just kidding I can sit anywhere, except maybe the steps of the baptistry, it’s just to wet there.

Dear Dairy,
How is you doing? We had a good service at church yesterday and then we had a…how should I put this? An…interesting business meeting last night. It was our annual meeting where we go over the budget and other stuff. We stayed on the budget. It is amazing at how many silly questions and comments you get when discussing money at a church business meeting. The main topic that has me pondering is that a couple of people mentioned we need to have fundraisers. This has me concerned, we have never had fundraisers and the reason is that it is not Biblical. If this comes to a motion I think I will seriously consider speaking out against it. I was thinking that it probably is not enough to say it is not Biblical so last night I got to thinking the two main reasons most churches have fundraisers is for missions and to help someone in financial straits.

As far as missions I have not found any evidence of the new testament church having fundraisers for missionaries. I have found several scriptures where Paul says he works to pay his way and that the church has sent him the monetary and material things he needs. I’m still looking though.

The new testament church according to the book of acts says that when a person in the church had a need the church members would give what they had to help meet this need or they would sell their personal property and give that.

I know someone will say “The Bible don’t say nothin about not having fundraisers”. The Bible may not say Thou shalt not fundraise, but it don’t say thou shalt not practice homosexuality either, but it does make it clear that God does not approve of that lifestyle. But I did find one set of verses in John chapter 2 verses 12-16, that sounded like a fundraiser to me. They were selling livestock(wonder if’n it was barbecued?) and doing some other stuff. Jesus came in and threw the tables over and chased them out. Sounds to me like Jesus was against fundraisers also.

I could be underhanded and at the next business meeting make a motion that we ban fundraisers in the church. Why would this be underhanded? Because the odds are the people talking about fundraisers will not be there. Any one can make a motion about anything at any business meeting. I know the preacher and most if not all of the deacons are against fundraisers.

I just feel that fundraising is not Biblical and that the church is suppose to be self-supporting. Now Dairy I feel if the subject comes up I must say these things(that don’t mean I will), I thought I would run it by you first Dairy because you have never steared me wrong and you are such a good listener. Dat, Dar is my .2 and it is free, now that is a deal.

I hate my job. Let me rephrase that I HATE MY JOB. No that ain’t good enough **I REALLY,REALLY HATE MY JOB**!!!!! In july we changed from a 12 hour rotating shift to 8 hours 5 days a week. On this schedule they can force us to work weekend overtime. We isn’t had overnight sitters since march, but guess what Dairy we have overnite sitters for tonight and I get drafted to go back in. Dairy did I mention that I hate my job.

Now that I got that off’n my chest Dairy, let me tell ya what I did this morning. I wanted pancakes so Lynn was fixin’em and I told her I wanted 2. I also decided I would cook’em myself. I then decided that I shouldn’t eat but one so I poured all the mix onto the griddle to make one of them plate size pancakes. When it was time to flip it, one spatula was not gonna get under it and flip it without it falling apart. So I took two spatulas and put one under each side and gave it a good quick flip, it was a clean and neat flip too, until it landed then it spattered all over my belly. Man that was a good pancake. I know it ain’t sounding to funny to you Dairy, but it was when it happened, Lynn laughed with me about it.

Well I reckon I’ll get to bed soon so we can at least go out to eat dinner before I has to go to work. Hey I didn;t tell ya about he fire did I? I think it was tuesday I went into work and my machine was all covered with plastic. Turns out there was a fire in the deptartment across the aisle from my machine. It spread to the roof and they evacuated 2 departments and had all the local news reporters out there and a couple of different fire stations responding. It was over 2 hours before the evacuees could go back to work. Personally I think they were refugees since they were seeking refuge from the smoke and fire. My machine had to be covered with plastic cause the water was running in through the roof as they fought the fire.

I had planned on doing some more flatwork today but since it ain’t pressing, meaning it ain’t a paying job, I’ll skip it. I really wanted to do it since I had started it earlier this week; So goes the best laid plans of mice and men.

It’s been a ho hum kinda week. Jest werkin. Yesterdey I did do some flatwork(cleaned some sidewalks). It warn’t fer pay, just some get familiar wid de equipment kinda werk.

After doing that I came home and watched John Roberts chew ted kennedy up and spit’em out during the confirmation hearings. I think old ted likes soul food, he kept stickin his foot in his mouth. I’ll have more time to watch more of the hearings today.

Last night at church we had some people speak who had to leave New Orleans because their house was damaged. This lady from our town(she was originally from New Orleans) had her sister, brother, and son and their families all move in, the women and six kids came befour the storm, the men came later. 13 people all living in a 3 bedrum house. They left with very little and it is amazing at howe mini people is pitching in and helping. They said that of all the clothes they have received, if there is ini thing they can’t yous they are giving it to other organizations that are helping other hurricane victims. They’re(the lady who spoke) house is still standing but it has shifted own the foundation and is knot liveable. She are a schul teacher and has to be back at werk on oct the 3. The kids have been going to schul here and when the 11 year old boy went to class there was a kid that was in his class at his schul in New Orleans. What is the odds of that happening, too people who had to travel 13 ours from home and wind up in the same class.

Next week we have revival services and the following weak we may be goin to mississippi. We have about 10 people interested in goin. I think the initial plan is to go on a for day trip. Two days traveling and two days werkin. I got my .2 in reel quick, I suggested leaving wed and coming back sat. If we do that I will get off work wed morning and only have to use 2 days vacation.

Well gotta go, gotta eat, and then listen to John Roberts tear the democraps up. He has pretty much controlled the hearings, that is the kind of guy we need in charge of the supreme court. After that we can get another good conservative in on the supreme court, that want cure the ailments of this country by itself but it sure want hurt narn.

I just don’t understand why people always start blaming people when something like this hurricane hits. Yes, there are things that can be improved on, but blaming the president? He tried to get the local officials to do something before the storm. I know George Bush ain’t that popular amongst some groups.
But how can you blame him for not doing something he does not have the authourity to do. Just because he is the president does not mean that he can do anything he wants to do. Our government is set up so with checks and balances, usually this is refering to the federal government, but it also applies to keeping federal and state and local governments seperate also. This is for our protection as citizens of a free country. It is to insure that we stay free and that no one party or ruler takes completely over. I am sure that the local officials are getting blame for things they aren’t responsible for also, no one could have been completely prepared for what happened in New Orleans and the rest of the gulf area.

I saw a local story about a group of citizens who took in some people who had to seek refuge from Katrina. They are housing them and trying to help them find jobs and providing for all their needs, out of their own pockets. They like seeing where their donation money is going. The Red Cross or maybe it is the government is trying to make everyone who sought refuge from the hurricane be “processed” by the Red Cross at the local shelters. Hey dude, this America if a man from New Orleans wants to move in with a family in North Carolina he has the right to do it with our telling anyone. If these people want to take in an adult who is seeking refuge from a hurricane they have the right to do it without anyones permission(except the person they are helping). If this man does not want to be “processed” that is his right.

Dear Dairy,
Last week I got my head sunburned. Let me describe my hair, sparse. My head got cooked. It started peeling this week. Lynn and Kimber was picking the dead skin off the other day, and it reminded me of one of my childhood pasttimes. Dairy, I have told you how close I was to my paw paw VonStegall, well he had these things that I have never seen on any one else. He called them black heads except for the occasional white ones, he called them white heads. I ain’t got a clue what they were. He had these little holes on his face and they had these little black things that grew in them, actually maybe the little black things burrowed into his face. Anyway I spent many a day squeezing these little growths,or whatever they was, out of his face. Not whole days, Dairy, but a half hour here and a there. Now that I have been thinking about them I may try to find out about them on-line.

Today I went peddling my pressure washing services, I went to a good bit of businesses and asked about doing there building and sidewalks. Quite a bit took my cards but I had no takers for the immediate future. I also mailed out some fliers to other businesses, I also put some before and after pictures in with these. I once said I would be an entrepreneur or be a pile of manure. Right now thangs ain’t smelling too good!!!

All the invitations for The 6th Annual VonStegall Family Bingo Night have been mailed. I tried an experiment to try and see could I pull one over on the postal service. I put my address on the envelope and the Sinklayers return address on the envelope. Then I did not put a stamp on the envelope, the idea was to see if it would go to the Sinklayers and them realize what was going and open it. If it worked it would have been a free mailing. *****I PUT A STAMP IN THE ENVELOPE SO I DID PAY TO DO THIS***** But our world class postal workers sent it to my house anyway. So much for pulling one on uncle sam. Well I only have one more thing to say about that and that is “Hung by my own petard.”

So if’n the sinklayers read this, you is invited if you can find out when and where, I know but I ain’t telling. Roll that beautiful bingo footage.

Dear Dairy,
What is up? Nothing much here. Just working and sleeping and hanging wid Lynn and the kids, actually they are children, I wouldn’t want you to think they was goats. I might have to start working some overtime if’n this here pressure washing don’t start picking up. Tomorrow I is gonna go out and try to get some business. I am gonna go to some businesses and if they are interested I am gonna give a demonstration and hope to get some work like dat. I am getting just a little bit discouraged. I know it will take time to get my name out there but I need to start making some money.

If the rumor is right I’ll have plenty of time to get up some work come april. There is suppose to be a big announcement in november that will say they are closing the plant in april. Oh yeah, I heard this from a “reliable” source. Those are the best sources you know. If we get some kind of severance package I don’t think I’ll mind at all.

There is a family in our community that had a bunch of relatives come down here from New Orleans. If I remember right a lady with a 3 bedroom house, now has a couple of sisters a brother and a bunch of kids who are living with her because they can’t go back to their home. I think the kids are in school somewhere around here. There is a lady in our church who knows this lady and she will gladly pass on anything that anyone wants to donate. I imagine that they will get lots of help and I hope our church does a good bit of helping.

Okie dokie that is enough of my rubbish for now Dairy odd, I mean old pal.

Hay Dairy,
Me and Lynn agree that we had the best sermon from our pastor this morning since he has been there. The funny thing is that it was on the same scripture he preached on two weeks ago. I don’t know if it was him preaching better or us getting it better. I think The Holy Spirit was working and we were responding.

I know of at least 7 people counting me and Lynn who really want to go to the gulf coast when the baptist men finish accessing what can and should be done first. The preacher is talking about going and working for two days. That’s a long way to go to just stay 2 days. I think I will either go with the church for that length of time and maybe go back later. If I don’t think I can go twice because of work I think I will stay for a week when the church goes. If I can go twice Lynn is gonna go with the church and if we go once we will stay longer. That is the plan anyway. I don’t see the church going until October since have a revival scheduled for the end of Sept. I think the week of thanksgiving will be a good week. People can go and miss less work because of the holiday, I won’t mind being gone on thanksgiving, especially if Lynn can go.

It was sad to hear of William Rehnquist(that don’t look right). I sure hope that John Roberts gets confirmed soon. I personally would like to see the president appoint Ken Star to the supreme court. I know every liberal in the country will say that he was out to get their boy(that was boy with a little b)bill clinton. But he was actually just doing his job. He was appointed the job of getting bill clinton by bill’s own attorny general, janet reno.

Ken Star is a good man and would do a good job on the supreme court. I just wish Condaleza(?) Rice(I know that is right) had a judicial background, she would be awesome on the supreme court. The liberals could not cry about her she is a woman and she is black but most of all she is an awesome person to have working for our country. She is so smart and she has enough grit that she will stand up for what she thinks and believes. Since she ain’t eligible though I’d put Mr. Ken Star on there if’n I was the president.
