Today was the beginning of the renovation in earnest. Having received news that someone we know can get the roof steel bent for us, we began the process of getting the roof off so that what’s presently left of the existing steel can be cut off and sent to the bloke so he has a template to work from.

Notice how the roof is rather bent on the right hand side of the left image. That’s because the steel is so rusted it’s actually broken through and just hanging there.
And now, some after shots…
The steel is pretty rusted out, particularly on the offside top rails. I’m treating them with rust sealant and will use some fibreglass filler and possibly body filler. They’re not taking huge amounts of weight but they do need to be pretty solid. One part (photo below) probably needs to be plated with a steel weld. We’ll see what I think over the next couple of days
All in all, the past 2 days have been pretty productive though.
