17 Jun 2003 - Zacks Test Results
First, I've taken a few days off from writing in my diary. Instead, I concentrated on loving my birds and pretending that all was normal. It felt good to forget for a few days, although memories of Austin would sift its way through my thoughts many times a day, I would concentrate on the happy times and try to forget his suffering.

Zack's Blood tests all came back normal. The good news is, our Vet felt that Zack is very heafty for a Grey. He's a big boy and bigger then the average Grey, and I was glad to hear that she felt Zack awhole lot of muscle on his breast. It's actually hard to feel his breast bone. So no signs of "waisting" in Zack, which brought some relief for the time being.

Bailey again, seems good. No extended worries as of yet. Time will tell now that she is finished her nystatin as to wheather she comes down with another infection in her crop. If she does, then I guess to suspect PDD would be stronger. In reality, there is nothing more we can do for Bailey is she did become positive or suspected. Meloxicam is our only hope and she is on it now.

The Timneh twins are doing good. I no longer worry about Emily sleeping in the corner of her cage on the floor. OUr vet said that some birds just do that and if she appears normal, healthy, eating, pooping , playing all day then this behavior is not overly alarming.

Jeffery is good. No probs.
The breeders are still on eggs. I checked them last night and so far they are clear. So im sure they are infertile again. I'll give her a few more days and pull them.

So to sum the last few days up, it;s been pretty much worry free and all seems to appear normal.

I'll be X'ing my fingers for the rest of my life I think.

17 Jun 2003 - Note About Zack
Zack has been pretty quiet all day, more so then usual. He usually whistles, talks and gabbers all day almost constantly. I can often hear Zack over every one else as I think he believes he is the most important bird and deserves to be heard over all the others (personality observation). So For Zack to be quite automatically leaves an unsettled feeling in my stomach. I payed close attention to his sleeping habits today, he eating habits, etc. He appeared to have moments of play and did eat normally off and on all day. Just vocally quiet.

By 730pm, Zack appeared to act more like himself. He played his usual games in the evening during our couch time. whew.

It's also spring and he is 1 1/2 yrs old, is male and is capable of having hormone surges. Perhaps he's hormonal. He's also grumpy with that growling noise he makes. When usually it takes ALOT for Zack to give sounds of disapproval, the past 2 days, he's been easily annoyed. He's even attacked my husband a few times over the past two days. Zack wants nothing to do with anyone but me at this time, where normally he's tolerant of everyone in our family.

So, I think we're seeing hormones. However, I need to note the change in behavour for our studies.
