ALOHA....come on in, the natives are friendly.
3 Jan 2004 - Two days into the year
It is the second day of the new year and already things seem better.....well some things. Duke is doing great, and now that he is feeling good it is hard to keep him restrained. He is though doing better than I had expected. Maybe all this rain we have had has helped somewhat as he is smart enough to know that he wants no part of playing in it. We have had more rain, just in the past three weeks, than we have had in the past couple of years combined. We have had about 8 inches in the past week and we are due several more before it will be over....maybe Sunday. I have never seen it so green on the Windward side but I don't know how much more we can stand before we have some real problems. There have been several mud/rock slides here, one just up the street. The drainage ditches are all full, there is standing water everywhere. I worry about debris clogging up some ditch up on the highway above and sending water cascading down the hill into my back yard. I'm thankful that we have a dry house with no leaks, plenty of football bowl games on TV to keep me occupied, and lots of Milk Bones and food to nourish us. My only worry right now is Duke's leg and getting through the next seven weeks without something happening...I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We thank you all for your nice thoughts and healing wishes. I hope all of you have had a great start to the new year, and that we all can look forward to a safe and healthy year ahead.
