ALOHA....come on in, the natives are friendly.

20 Nov 2003 - A recipe for disaster

Let me say right up front that I know that this entry is going to irritate some people.

I am not Chicken Little running around claiming that the sky is falling down, but let me tell you, the world is headed for a rude awakening. I will give some examples, no one of which is earth shattering, but taken together point to serious trouble.

1. A continual decline in morals and the standards by which we live;

2. An obsession with me;

3. An obsession with sex along with a decline in fidelity not only to one's self, but to one's family;

4. The continual decline in the effectiveness of governments; (In most governments, the people have given up their control of their government. That has happened because they have either not shown proper interest, have not voted, nor have they participated in the process. Here in America we have legislative bodies that do not legislate, Courts that do not judge laws but legislate, or "write" laws through their decisions.)

5. The innocence of our children is being destroyed by exposing them to evils at an early age, nothing seems to be sacred anymore; (Much of this happens because they are given too much freedom and too little supervision.)

6. An obsession with political correctness at all costs, and a total loss of sincerity.

And.....on top of that there are 15 million illegal aliens in the United States right now and the INS has no idea where they are, nor are they doing anything about it.

Did you know that there is a difference.....

....in being truely sincere in what you are saying, and in putting a partisan spin on what you say?

....in knowing what you are talking about, and thinking that you might know what you are talking about?

....in speaking only from a partisan side with out having one iota of knowlege about what you are talking about?

~~The average person, if asked if he/she is satisfied with their income, invariably they reply that they are underpaid. If asked if he is satisfied with his intelligence, they invariably reply they are.~~

~~We live in a post-literate age, where the only history the average man knows, comes to him from Hollywood.~~

~~Those who climb soap boxes to preach "tolerance" of all "lifestyles" are typically the most intolerant of all. It is easy enough to prove: simply tell such preachers of intolerance that you have an opposite opinion.~~

Duke's new friend

20 Nov 2003 - Burrrrrrr
For the past few days we have had very typical winter weather here on the Windward side of the Island. Yesterday we had 50 mph wind gusts which turned my early morning run into quite an exciting experience. I was constantly dodging missiles as misty squalls soaked me. The street lights were flickering and the sky was full of blue flashes from electrical shorts and the explosion of transformers. Everytime Duke and I went out for a walk it would start raining and we would have to turn back. For the first time this year I wore my heavy jacket and slept last night with a heavy blanket. We really did not get very much rain, no where as much as we need, but with the wind and the cooler temperature, each drop of rain that landed on me felt like an icecube. Today, the winds have returned to trades at 15-20 mph, the sun is in and out, and we might warm up a little. It is amazing how 23 years in Hawaii changes your perspective on what cold is. I probably have said this before, the lowest temperature that I have experienced, here in Hawaii is 57 degrees. Last night it was 69 degrees and it felt to me like it was 20. Duke who normally hates to be directly in the sun, as I write this entry, is lying in the backyard grass in the warming rays. I am going to join him.
