14 Nov 2003 - Happy Days
|
I am not going to complain one bit about the blustery weather we have been having the past two days. It feels good to not be sweating in the afternoon. Duke and I got drenched to the bone early this morning. Normally, he likes to run in the rain, but this morning the rain was horizontal, pushed by a 30-40 mph wind. I crouched down behind a large tree and picked up a square of plywood trying to ward off the worst of it and Duke was crouched right with me. The problem with this type of rain is that it mostly runs off as it comes so fast, then it ends after a few minutes. We need a good all day soaking rain to do any good for the plants.I had hoped to have a view of, and take some shots of the Leonid meteor shower at 5 am today but no such luck as the sky was covered with clouds. I will have one last chance around midnight on the 19th. This time of year is not always a good time for night time sky gazing as clear skys are normally a rarity in November, especially at night. The pop ups mentioned in my previous entry I determined were associated with Internet Explorer. What boggles my mind is that they only hit me when I try to leave comments in Dear Diary. Anyway, I solved the problem thanks to some advice from RebelRocker34. I have a pop up blocker furnished by earthlink.com, my ISP, but it did not have any effect on these pop ups. I down loaded a program from cnet.com called STOPzilla and that has solved the problem. The nice thing about this blocker is that you have a choice to accept or reject and once you reject it rejects without prompt after that. It has a lot of nice features and is very easy to operate. It does not seem to interfere with any of my other programs either which is a pleasant surprise. The other ones that I have tried in the past ended up being more of a problem than a solution and I had to uninstall them. Happy days are here again.
