23 Feb 2008 - Podcasts and Injunction!
Well hello dear friend and welcome back.
Thank you Linda and David for your comments left yesterday. Apologies for the small font throughout the past few entries David. I suspect this is due to the fact that I cut and pasted them from a Metapad (which is just a more functional version of a normal PC's "Notepad"). I tried modifying the entries to change the font but no matter what I tried, even trying to change the "source" code, HTML, I still could not get the font to change, and still can't, so tiny it will have to remain. I won't use the Metapad if I save up entries offline again in future. I'll save to Word instead, although, I am reluctant to do that because it reminds me too much of being at work, using that program. :)
As for using Sair instead of Sarah David, I did try pointing out to my American friends online via this diary that they should not pronounce the R in Sair. When they say it out loud, they put a great big curly R on the end. In England, we'd just say the "air" bit, keeping the "rah" part completely separate and not said. The R is silent. I have tried explaining this for my American friends several times on this diary lately but they seem to always still want to put the R on the end. Besides my liking a nickname, rather than my proper name online, it's also shorter to type and I've been using it online for the past 9 years nearly. Anyone wishing to contact my current whereabouts on the net can put either my real name (with or without a space between the Christian/Surnames) or Sair into Google and come up with many websites I am or have been involved with. I don't mind if you call me either. And to quote the great John Lennon.......It's better than being called shithead! LOL.
I've been watching and listening to podcasts last night and this morning. Geek Brief, Beatles Minute, News Quiz, the hilarious Ask Elvis, a very interesting "Bad To Me" Beatles mix by BeatlesRemixers Group BDJ, Greg's from Monday and an absolutely cracking podcast from peteadequate as usual. I'm going to re-play pete's podcast again later. They're so good. Lots of work goes into them and I really love them. Here's the link to download or click it into your iTunes... http://peteadequate.podomatic.com/.
I've been ill for some time. I've been working though. But, I've not been picking up my post. Naughty naughty me. I've opened one envelope up this morning that states that gas service engineers were due to visit this past Tuesday and if I didn't give them access at that time, then injunction legal proceedings will follow! Oh dear. I've fired off an urgent email straight away. I'm sure we can arrange a mutually convenient time for after 6 when I'm home or they do Saturday morning. "What a plonker" I am!
Wow! Greg played some Status Quo! I thought they were unknowns over the pond! Oh well. That was a nice surprise.
Carrying on from yesterday's lengthy diatribe, I am going to stay away from Rob's and Greg's podcasts tonight and tomorrow. And for the future, for good. I have to. I was weak at 4 a.m. yesterday morning and entered Rob's chat. I do wish I hadn't. I have to withdraw. For the reasons I stated in yesterday's diary entry.
Greg and Gary were reminiscing about their childhood programme sounds on this week's show, which has prompted me to go looking for my childhood programmes on the net. The most important one of all was Listen With Mother. My mother and I listened to this every day. I love listening to the midi and wav files they've put on there. The introduction one takes me right back to my early years in Carlisle. http://www.whirligig-tv.co.uk/radio/lwm.htm - please cut and paste coz I can't be bothered to do the link thing. Lazy today. {g}
Dee and I sat together in my room yesterday, passing the laptop back and forth, ordering our groceries. They arrive between 7 and 8 this evening. Dee ordered all her healthy fruit, seeds, nuts etc. I, amongst other things, ordered my Cadbury's Dairy Milk chocolate. Christmas, birthdays, whenever - if you need to send me a present, CDM is always gratefully received {g}. I'm getting chocoholic withdrawal symptoms. I haven't had any CDM for many days now and I'm really missing it.
Dee is out with her friends today. She came for a short chat before she left and she looks very good. Her hair straightened. Very good make up. Her top and long wrap around her neck looked particularly good. A very smart young woman. Very proud of her I am. I hope she enjoys her day out. I'm going back to sleep. Reading such a lot all week means my eyes need quite a bit of rest at the weekend if I stay up late or get up early. I may just play some more music from Greg's podcast and just lie down with my eyes closed to totally relax.
