    13 Feb 2008 - Pills

Went to sleep at about 10ish and my alarm went off at 12 midnight and 6 a.m. so I could continue taking my strong penicillin tablets and swig some water.  Still sniffing and coughing well.  Difficult to breathe.  Eventually I got up at half 7, feeling rough because of lots of penicillin and no food.

Got the last bus before the school and work rush at 8.07.  Got off at Argos and walked round to the doc's surgery.  I'd ordered my prescription online for the first time this time and was worried that my order would be lost somewhere.  I'd run out of penicillin with having to double the dose up for this cold.  The surgery was open - two kind gentlemen moved to the side and opened the front door wide to let me in.  How kind.  It's not often you see that nowadays.  Nice to see.  My prescription had made it through cyberspace and was ready for collection.  The Pharmacy, however, was not ready for me.  I had to wait until 8.50 a.m. before they opened up.  I was first served and they didn't mind that I've mislaid my exemption certificate (NHS card) and I was out of there and back to work pretty soon.  Took two of my normal penicillin tablets straight away and then the other normal tablets and the strong penicillin at 12 noon.

Lots of urgent work to do and people coming in with even more urgent work as the morning wore on.  Lunch is tomato soup.  I've taken a multivitamin with iron and this afternoon will eat a chewable vitamin C tablet.  I seem to be doing nothing but taking tablets and not really feeling much better for it all.

I must go into town after work although I don't want to.  Have to pick up some cash because I just used my last tenner on the Megarider (weekly bus pass).  If Dee is coming back from Germany soon and has holidays coming up, then there will be requests for money for shopping and ice skating etc. etc.  Better have the ATM (i.e. my purse) stocked ready for her return.

I didn't get time to look at the bank at work and so I didn't go and get any cash.  I'll get some tomorrow.  If Dee shows up tonight needing money for a taxi, I think I have enough.  Hopefully the teachers will be able to persuade one of the parents to give Dee a lift up the road here.  They'll probably arrive in the middle of the night again.  I don't even know when she's due back.  Tonight or tomorrow night I think.  Dee has a key, safe with her money, so she can easily get back in.  I promised I would be sure not to leave my keys in the door with the door locked and I've not been bolting the door either.  Even in the slight chance she loses her key, I am just above the door she will try and enter so she can call up to me if she's locked out.  Hopefully, I will hear her above the sound of my horrendous snoring.  :)  The snoring is a problem of sleep apnoea, but as I'm losing weight, this problem should go away.

Listening to the choral work which is sung to the tune of Adagio For Strings by Barber.  I put that and another orchestra version, both from YouTube, on my Diary here.

Sorting out the multitude of pills again.  Taken my 6 o'clock strong penicillin on an empty stomach.  I will have something to eat at about 7.  A great big pharmacy bag full of them.  I pop a lot of them out of their foils and put them into a special, large pill box with deep containers for each different type of pill.  Then, each day, I can transfer the correct amount to a little pill box to carry around with me,  It's a pretty little thing I picked up in St. Malo, France on our Jersey holidays.  The picture on the cop of the pill box depicts the walled town of St. Malo very well indeed.  I've been there twice now!

Fleeting attention is all that seems to the norm now.  A quick little bit of interest in something or someone and then it's - move on to the next thing, quickly.  Thankfully, I have had some very kind and loving comments left on this diary by complete strangers to me.  Giving, caring people  Not everyone is ignorant.  The people who I desperately need to read my diary, because I love them, don't.  Dee and Kay don't, which is a source of great disappointment to me.

I'm comfortable not posting at the moment, so this may be published, then again, it may not.  I'll see how I feel later.

Wednesday evening - watched some telly, not much.  Dee came back about 10ish.  She was really tired, told me that she'd only had about 3 hours sleep each night and when I asked for hugs she said she stank of stale smoke because the family she was placed with smoked.  She told me that she was not going to go to the junior school as usual for the experience thing but would get more sleep and would go into school for second lesson at 10 a.m.  I argued that she should force herself to go in as normal but she protested, explaining her extreme tiredness.  I can't force her to go if she refuses.

I went to sleep when Dee did, shortly after 10 p.m., set my alarm to take my tablets at midnight and 6 a.m.
