    7 Feb 2008 - Well .... She's Gone
.....and I miss her already.  Dee had me set my alarm for 20 past 2 this morning to ensure she was ready to go.  After my alarm, I nipped to the loo then found out that Dee had only been able to sleep for 3 hours and that she'd been drinking Red Bull to get fully awake for her journey.  Her suitcase and hand luggage was all ready.

Dee kept saying she was really going to miss me.  We sat and talked on my bed whilst we waited for her taxi to arrive.  Dee had all new clothes on and looked really good.  She'd washed her hair and had done her make-up well.  She looked really good.  We kept telling each other how much we were going to miss each other.  We went through what Dee could do if she found herself lost and without a phone.  She'll be fine.  She's a very independent woman, made of strong stuff.  Her German is probably the best of the group, so I have no worries about her over in Germany at all.  Dee's a bit miffed that she's been placed with a "chav" again.  Dee is all things to all people.  She's not in any one bag - Goth, Emo and Chavs - she gets on with every bag.  It's the music she's going to miss.  I just know she'll arrive back craving some of her own music.  If you've ever seen Dee's MySpace, you know how much she loves her music.

As I've been unwell, Dee has prepared absolutely everything for this trip.  She did her own shopping, washing, drying, packing - everything.  I just supplied the cash to enable her to do and get the things she needed.  I praised her as we had our chat.  Told her how independent she was and how proud I am of her.  I got my extra-strength penicillin from the doctor yesterday as much for Dee's sake as for mine - so she doesn't worry about me too much while she is away.

Dee speaks German very well indeed and her friends go to her when they need help with the language.  Dee won't be so wary this year, having been over there last year she knows what to expect.

I'm missing her already.  I am sure if Dee gets anywhere near a computer during her week away on this school trip she will attempt to contact me either by MSN messenger or via email but, of course, the pupils are encouraged *not* to contact home often.  Homesickness is something that has to be endured, not cured.  :)

{Singing....} "Three o'clock in the morning.... I'm gettin' ready for bed". (Actually, it's 4 o'clock in the morning now I've written this, but who's counting? LOL.)

Will be thinking of Dee 24/7 until her return.... and then I'll *still* be thinking of Dee 24/7 - naturally - I'm a mother - happens that way from the minute they're born.

Goodnight alll... back to sleep... if I can breathe OK...
    Love,
    Sair xx

    7 Feb 2008 - Penicillin War
Warning - this diary entry is purely for me really.  There is nothing here to interest anyone - unless you have an unhealthy interest in the affects of the common cold that is.  LOL.

When I woke up for Dee earlier I found the cold was affecting my voice.  All croaky.  The germs have travelled down to my lungs.  Exactly what I dreaded.  The congestion was eased a bit after a fit of coughing and what seemed like gallons of liquid.  After waking up with my alarm for work this morning, same thing.  Difficult to breathe, coughing fit to ease congestion, lots of liquid...  The coughing is so fierce and my throat so sore that I can feel enormous pain around my tonsils area.  I feel very woosy and am very aware of the weakness in my body, my limbs - something is racing around my body, the virus or the penicillin.  This penicillin is really knocking me for six.  Intead of one in the morning and one at night, I'm taking two in the morning and two at night - of my normal medicine.  On top of that, the doc's strong penicillin 4x a day - every 6 hours.  It's called Erythromycin

Every now and again I get an uncontrollable urge to cough up my lungs.  A fit that lasts a couple of minutes each time.  Very painful on this sore throat.  Very painful indeed.  Everywhere is very congested now.  Very hard to breathe.  I have been told to get some sort of medicine to put in hot water and breathe to clear my sinuses.  1 - I can't recall what it was called.  2 - I don't feel well enough to go and get it.  3 - Dee can't go and get it for me because she's in Germany.

Going to get myself a Lemsip which will, hopefully, clear my nose, make me sneeze, get some of that congestion out and the paracetamol will ease the severe pain in my throat I am hoping.

Bleugh.  I'm even taking the day off work and have rung in to apologize for letting my boss down.  I have persevered for two days and really struggled but today with the chest infection and very sore throat on top of what I've had before, plus the wooziness and raging war inside my veins which I can actually feel, I have to stay off work and keep my head on the pillow.  I hate letting my boss down when she already has to deal with other staff absences but there's a big difference between sniffling the day away and constantly coughing the day away.  I get on my own nerves coughing.  Nobody wants to have to endure endless couging germs around the office.

I keep falling asleep as I type.  That penicillin is really knocking me for six.  Going to make that Lemsip and then try and sleep.
