    1 Feb 2008 - Sleet
Lunchtime at work and it's grey and wet with sleet outside. The radiators have just gone off for about an hour and the freezing wind is causing a draft through the cracks in the windows. The ground is wet and so it seems possible that if the sleet turns to snow it won't stay on the ground, it'll melt on contact.

Today does not feel the same. It's Friday and normally I would have enthusiasm for the coming weekend but not so much today because a few of us are going to be coming in tomorrow (Saturday) to get some of the work down. There are two large piles of work to do. We are short staffed because one retired and one is off sick.

Checked on the Parcel Force website to see where the box is - it's landed in the USA. That's all I know. Very happy it's finally being delivered.

I'll probably nip into M&S after work today and pick up some food. I forgot to do an online Sainsbury's shop last night so I shall do that as soon as I get in. I'll call Dee through from her room and we'll do the shopping together.

It's my brother's 51st birthday today. That figure... 51... makes me feel really old. I am the baby of the family though and it'll be a while before I get to 50. I have no idea what he's doing because we don't keep in touch. Those who have read my diary loyally through the years will know why. Do a hit on the random link (left) and you may just find an explanation. Chances are - with 8 years of writing here - you won't though. {g} I'm not going to repeat the explanation now.

Time to get 10 minutes rest from typing before I have to get back to work. No lunch. Thought I had some crisps or some soup here but all I've got is chocolate digestive biscuits. They will have to do until I can get some decent food from Marksies later today.

This entry is completely boring.... What shall we discuss? Leave a comment?

    Later....
    Love,
    Sair xx

    1 Feb 2008 - Warm and Content
This afternoon seemed to last forever, probably due to the fact I had an earlier lunch break than normal. Usually I take my break between 1 and 2 but today I took my break from half 12 to 1. Usual half 4 finish.

The gale force wind with sleet made me wish I had my hat to keep my head warm. Horrible, horrible weather. The older I get, the less tolerant I am of bad weather. You had to be very young or very foolish to be out in that sleet today.

Got an Arriva bus into town almost straight away. Got some cash from Lloyds Bank. The bad weather outside was reflected in the lack of sales in the food department in M&S. There was lots of choice in sarnies, for instance. I'm sure most working people couldn't have been bothered to walk to M&S for their lunch in that horrible wind and sleet. Sarnies for instant food for when we get in. We can have something more substantial later. Picked up just enough to carry in the way of food and managed to fill up the fridge quite well. Dee obviously liked what I got in because she was "buzzin".

I've watched "Ask The Techies" podcast since getting in. Just one half hour. There are quite a few to watch and delete. I could probably free quite a lot of memory on the H/D if I watch one every day and delete each one as soon as it has been seen. I like Friday afternoons because Steve Wright's podcast from BBC Radio 2 arrives. There is more of a variety in the interviews nowadays but I *do* miss listening to "Ask Elvis" which seems to be only about once a month nowadays. Andre Gardner loves to say his own name. LOL.

We have a warm house, warm rooms, warm hands...lots of food to choose from. We are fortunate indeed.

I'm listening to "Jackie - The Album". Jackie was a magazine for teenagers in the 1970s which had a mixture of things in it but nothing more salacious than a few harmless posters of pop stars of the era. No talk of sex. Not even in the short stories. We had very useful tips on make up and where to get the latest crazes in clothes, accessories etc. Oh so innocent. This album features music of the time and brings back many, many memories of my teenage years. I seem to know every lyric of every song! LOL. Good fun

    Update.......

How many of those do you recognize?
    Maybe more later...
    Love
    Sair xx
