28 Aug 2001 - Another engine required I have come across a problem while converting the 1000cc A+ engine that I have to rear wheel drive. The oil pickup is different… The front wheel drive engine has an o-ring joint between the block and the gearbox and a pickup built into the gearbox, whereas the rear wheel drive has a screw-in pickup that is fixed to the main bearing caps. The threaded joint required for the RWD pickup does not exist on the FWD engine block. This means that I have a knackered 950cc engine and a useless 1000cc engine in pieces all over my garage floor so if anyone wants any parts from these engine you know who to email. So I am now on the lookout for a rear wheel drive engine to fit the car, preferably 950cc but anything considered… If you have one for sale please let me know.
