Well the time has come for me to call it quits. It pains me to become one of those people that start a project like this but never finish it but something has to go. I just don't have room or time to do everything that I want to do so the car is going up for auction… The bottom line is that I need to make space in my garage for my rally car. I have been borrowing a garage from a friend to store the car but I never get a chance to work on it and if I'm going to race this year then that has got to change. I considered swapping the cars and storing the A40 in his garage but that would not be fair. For a start it is a non-runner and secondly, once it's out of site, I would probably never get back to it.
So, in an effort to prevent my hard work going to the scrap yard I've put it on e-bay. Click here for the auction
In total the car has cost me £263.30 which I think is very good considering the progress that I made… Apart from a sill and a front valence the body is ready for a bit of TLC and paint. The rest of the car just need putting back together again, and since I have most of the parts that shouldn't be too much of a problem. I just haven't got the time or space anymore.
It will be sad to see it go if someone buys it, but it'll be even worse if I have to scrap it. But it has got to be done if I am going to pursue a lifelong ambition to rally…
So, if you fancy having a go at it then bid on it or give me a yell. (lesgray@deardiary.net). I will help out with advice if you get stuck and can't work out which bits go where… I'll even throw in the Haynes manual (that'll help). I just don't want to scrap it!
That's all for now… Be brave!
